The OM-5 was the first camera to be released by the rebranded OM System in 2022 and, at the time, got a lot hate, even from the Micro Four Thirds community – it was, after all, only a minor upgrade over the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III.

However, it has proven to be quite the snapper, scoring an impressive 4.5 stars out of 5 in our OM System OM-5 review, and for good reason. It's one of the best Micro Four Thirds cameras on the market, with a compact and lightweight body that you can carry around all day – perfect for street photographers. It even makes for a great travel companion.

And with Amazon's October Prime Day sale well underway, there's an additional discount you can take advantage of which shaves a very nice 28% from the asking price – it's via a coupon that drops an additional AU$41.97 over the already discounted price of AU$1,398.84. That's a total saving of AU$542.13.

If you've loved Olympus, know that the OM System OM-5 encapsulates all that was good about the older brand, then makes it better. This is an excellent mid-range all-rounder with 20.4MP of resolution and a whopping 7.5 stops of IBIS. It may not be as big a change as the OM-1 represents for OM System, but we can't recommend the OM-5 highly enough for an everyday shooter. Be sure to check the coupon box on the listing to bring the price down further at checkout.

With a 20.4MP Live MOS sensor and an enhanced TruePic IX image processor, the OM-5 is more than capable of delivering continuous shooting speeds at a blitzing 30fps and supports DCI and UHD 4K video recording.

The sensor provides a sensitivity range of up to ISO 25600, although the sensor size can play a role in noise performance in certain low-light situations. It is, however, stabilised with an advanced 5-axis sensor-shift IBIS system that compensates for up to 7.5 stops of camera shake, ensuring sharper handheld shots.

Additionally, the sensor features 121 cross-type phase-detection points and 121 contrast-detection areas, offering fast and accurate focusing and subject tracking. Designed for your photographic journeys, this powerful and versatile camera can easily be packed in your bag or slung over your shoulder, ready for when inspiration strikes.
