The top three mirrorless cameras at major Japanese retailer Yodobashi all come from the same brand. Topping the chart is a full-frame camera that made headlines before its launch in December 2025 and has since won multiple industry awards.

The No.1 mirrorless camera in Yodobashi's ranking for the second half of September is the Sony A7 V, followed by the ever-popular Sony A7C II with a zoom lens kit. In third place is the same full-frame camera in its body-only version.

Sony dominated previous Yodobashi rankings, with its camera accounting for 50% of the Top 10. Now, the manufacturer remains in the lead, but its presence has fallen to four models. Canon follows with three cameras: the EOS R50 (No.4), EOS R6 Mark III (No.8) and EOS R10 (No.9).

Japan's No.1: the "Camera of the Year"

Review insight: "The Sony A7 V delivers a big leap in autofocus intelligence, burst speed, video, and workflow flexibility over the prior generation. There are a couple of headline-grabbing improvements we haven’t yet seen debuted in other Sony cameras, but mostly, enough of all the good bits of Sony’s range are distilled into a more affordable jack-of-all-trades body" (Image credit: Gareth Bevan / Digital Camera World)

The Sony A7 V is a camera many photographers have been waiting for.

Since its launch, the full-frame mirrorless has won several awards, including Best Full Frame Expert Camera at the TIPA World Awards, Camera of the Year at the Camera Grand Prix 2026, and Camera of the Year 2026-2027from EISA.

The Camera Grand Prix 2026 praised the camera's processing power and efficiency, noting that its next-generation Bion XR2 engine integrates an AI processing unit.

It also highlighted the partially stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor, which offers a dynamic range of up to approx. 16 stops and blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second (fps) in 14-bit RAW.

Designed as a true hybrid all-rounder, the Sony A7 V combines high-speed performance and advanced autofocus (AF) in a more affordable body and is available for $2,898 / £2,399.
