Amazon Prime Day 2025 is official – dates and the early camera deals to shop right now
Prime Day 2025 camera deals will begin June 8

It's happening, folks! Amazon has announced the dates for this year's Prime Day sale and it's a doozy. We've gone from last year's 6-day event to a whopping 7-day sale this year. Things will kick off at 00:01am AEST on Tuesday, June 8 and will go on until 11:59pm AEST on Tuesday, June 14.
Will this record-long Amazon sale bring record-low camera prices? Well, that remains to be seen but the expectations are high. The last few Amazon sales we've had have not brought too many fantastic offers, but Prime Day camera deals have typically been quite good – like Black Friday good.
Of course, since this is Amazon, you've got to contend with the fact that there aren't too many camera models listed on the online retailer's catalogue. You'll find some Canon and Nikon camera bodies and kits, along with some Sony, OM System, Fujifilm and Panasonic options. While DJI is prevalent on Amazon, GoPro not so much. So it might be best to temper your expectations.
The one thing Amazon is fantastic for is buying accessories. You'll find a heck of a lot tripods, camera bags, SD and CFexpress cards, filters and much more. And, of course, I'll be along for the ride, finding only the best Prime Day camera deals for you that worth your notice... and your money.
It will help if you're a Prime member as there could be a few Prime-exclusive deals that could save you a little more. If you've never tried this service before, my recommendation would be to wait a until early July, then sign up as you'll get a 30-day free trial which you can cancel after the sale if you don't wish to pay the ongoing AU$9.99 monthly fee.
Until then, I've put together this little guide to help you prepare for the upcoming sale, and I've also listed a few noteworthy camera deals available right now to give you an idea of what to expect in July.

Best early Prime Day 2025 camera deals
While not quite the revolutionary camera we were expecting to see in 2023, the Osmo Action 4 got one major upgrade that we loved – a superior sensor. With horizon balance, better low-light performance than any other action camera and a noise-cancelling 3-mic system, this model is still one of the best rivals to GoPro you can get a much lower price.
Arguably one of the best cameras from Olympus before it became OM System, the E-M10 IV is a real beauty, both physically and in terms of performance. A 20MP Live MOS sensor, up to 4.5 stops of IBIS, 15fps bursts, improved AF and 4K video make this an all-round package for the enthusiast at a budget price.
Resurrecting the compact camera again after years, Canon's new PowerShot V1 made headlines for being a Sony vlogging camera killer. Combining high-quality imaging with an intuitive design tailored for effortless video and photography, it features a newly developed 22.3MP 1.4-inch CMOS sensor and an integrated cooling fan. It aims to deliver exceptional performance in a portable package.
This well-built, lightweight mirrorless camera offers excellent handling and some serious video prowess. That's not to say it shirks its stills duties. If you're keen on a hybrid with a decent price tag, the GH5 II is well worth a look, particularly if you need wireless live-streaming capabilities. It might be a minor upgrade from the original G5 and not quite on par with the G6, but this 20.3MP MFT snapper has 4K 60p/50p 10-bit video capabilities, which is more than enough for most users.
Offering flagship performance, this camera became our favourite in 2020 when it was launched, excelling in both stills and video. You get 6.2K internal recording at 30fps in 4:2:2 10-bit colour, plus good subject tracking too from this 26.2MP snapper. It truly is one heck of a camera that's perfect for content creators.
Despite being entry-level, you get the speed (up to 40fps max burst) and precision we've come to love on Canon's higher-end bodies. This 24.2MP snapper is also the lightest full-framer you can get, and is great value in this deal, even if you want to capture 4K/60p footage.
A much better discount than what we saw last year makes the X-T50 a good option for beginners, with a lot of advanced features here. It's the first to boast a Fujifilm Simulations dial on the top plate, gives you 40.2MP resolution on tap and the addition of IBIS makes this a great camera, although we will admit the X-T5 is better value as you get dual SD card slots as opposed to one on the X-T50.
Released only in June this year, the Z6 III is a massive upgrade over the Mark II model, particularly where video and autofocus is concerned. It brings 6K/60p (RAW) and 5.4K/60p (YUV) recording, with up to 125 minutes of non-stop capture in 4K/60p, all made possible with an upgrade to its processor. It inherits 3D Tracking from the Z9 and Z8 for up to 9 subjects, plus there's up to 8 stops of IBIS with stabilised lenses. It had a bigger discount earlier in the sale, but this 19% price drop is still pretty darn good.
While it doesn't look like a massive discount, the original list price is lower than the AU$6,999 RRP. It's also been available on Amazon for AU$5,336 previously, which makes this an all-time low price on what is an absolute stunner of a camera. No mechanical shutter, up to 120fps burst capabilities, amazing results, and up to 8.3K 60p N-RAW video recording from this 45.2MP full-framer.
If you've loved Olympus, know that the OM System OM-5 encapsulates all that was good about the older brand, then makes it better. This is an excellent mid-range all-rounder with 20.4MP of resolution and a whopping 7.5 stops of IBIS. It may not be as big a change as the OM-1 represents for OM System, but we can't recommend the OM-5 highly enough for an everyday shooter.
Amazon Prime Day 2025: Key information
Amazon Prime Day 2025 date and time
In 2024, the main Prime Day sale in Australia kicked off at 00:01 AEST on Tuesday, July 16 and ended at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday, July 21. That was a 6-day marathon shopping event, but this year is going one more.
Amazon has announced that Prime Day 2025 will commence on Tuesday, July 8 and will go on till July 14, which is a full 7-day shopping bonanza.
This is a record-breaking Prime Day sale and it seems to be Aussie and Singaporean shoppers only. Everyone else gets a 4-day Prime Day sale. So shouldn't it now really be called 'Prime Week' rather than 'Prime Day'?
The timing, though, is still spot on. Historically Prime Day has started on a Tuesday (with only a rare exception or two) in mid July for the first sale and early October for the second, so nothing has changed there.
How to make the most of Amazon Prime Day
Despite the name, most of the deals offered during Amazon Prime Day are open to everyone, but if you really want to make the most of it and maximise your savings, it's best to be a Prime member. There are several offers that are only available to subscribers, so signing up means you won't miss out on the really juicy bargains.
However, you don't need to shell out for a monthly membership in order to make the most of the sales festivities. Instead, why not sign up for a 30-day free trial closer to the sale in order to take advantage of the discounts – and then simply cancel the membership when Prime Day is over.
If you do sign up now, you'll also be able to take advantage of the other free perks that come with a Prime subscription, namely full access to Prime Video, Prime Reading (a 'lite' version of Kindle Unlimited) and Prime Gaming (another version of Twitch). Plus, of course, the free-and-fast shipping promise is there for all eligible products.
What kind of Prime Day camera deals can I expect?
Amazon AU has a limited catalogue of branded cameras and lenses, but if you're after Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, OM System, Sony or Panasonic options, you might get lucky.
This year, we're already seeing good discounts on recent cameras like the Nikon Z6 III, but keep your eye out for offers on the Canon EOS R6 Mark II and the EOS R5 Mark II. The Nikon Z8 is slowly getting cheaper, and it wouldn't surprise me if the price finally dropped to below the AU$5,000 mark. There'll be a few vlogging cameras and action cameras, but some of the highlights could be instant cameras.
In terms of lenses, you'll be able to find a few Canon and Nikon first-party lenses discounted on Amazon, but few third-party lenses as the likes of Sigma, Tamron and other third-party manufacturers are few and far between on the retail giant's site.
How often is Amazon Prime Day?
While Amazon Prime Day is just the one sale, we can say there are two – the main event in July, plus the secondary one held in October. However, the second one isn't called 'Prime Day', instead going by the name Prime Big Deal Days.
In format, though, it's basically the same and is a prelude to Amazon's Black Friday sale that takes place later in the year. It's still exclusive to Prime members, so pays to have a subscription going even for that sale.
How much does Prime cost in Australia?
A monthly subscription to Amazon Prime in Australia costs AU$9.99 p/m, but you can save a little if you pay annually, which is AU$79. That's essentially a 10-month fee for the full 12 months. However, if you aren't going to be a regular Amazon shopper, perhaps the annual fee may not be the best option for you.
