Sony has been an industry leader in the development of mirrorless (or compact system) cameras in recent years, but while their top-level cameras may be a bit out of the price range for those starting out or hobbyists, the Sony A6000 has provided many with an excellent entry point into the mirrorless arena.
The A6000 has a 24.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, with a very capable screen and electronic viewfinder. It can perform as a sporting and activity camera, with a burst mode capable of firing off 11 frames every second. Of course, as an enthusiast-level camera, it's not entirely surprising that it doesn't have 4K video capabilities, but nevertheless you're getting a very decent bang for your buck.
Sony A6000 body £299
