If you're a Nikon fan looking to snap up a new full-frame mirrorless camera, you don't really need to wait for Black Friday 2021 to come around. That's because Amazon Australia is celebrating Nikon Week right now with some excellent discounts on Nikon's best Z-series cameras, including the Mark II models of the Z7 and Z6.
The Z-series full-framers aren't the only Nikon cameras discounted – they just happen to be ones we're most excited about. You can score the entry-level Nikon D3500 twin-lens DSLR kit for 25% off (or just AU$749), for example, or the APS-C format Nikon Z50 twin-lens kit for AU$1,571.65 (or 25% off). There are even some great Z-mount lenses that are discounted the best ones have just 16% off – still nothing to scoff at surely.
On cameras, though, there's up to a whopping 42% off on right now, although buyer beware that not all of them are shipped and sold directly by Amazon Australia. Some of the cameras are being sold by third-party resellers on the platform. If you're comfortable with that, chances are you'll get an even bigger discount.
That said, some of the Z series cameras being sold by Amazon AU carry an additional promotion: kits bought between now and October 31 are eligible for cashback of up to AU$300 from Nikon. All you have to do is register your product with the My Nikon Life website. This includes AU$100 cashback on the Nikon Z50 kit mentioned above.
We've made a note of the additional promotions in our picks of the full-frame mirrorless offers below.
Nikon Z7 II (body only) |
AU$5,599 AU$4,199 (save AU$1,400)
A 45.7MP high-res sensor, along with an imaging engine to give it a 10fps burst speed, face- and eye-detection, animal recognition and so much more, this camera is one of the best full-frame mirrorless models money can buy.
While a 25% discount is a massive saving, be sure to take advantage of Nikon's cashback offer with this camera and save and additional AU$300 (bringing the final price to AU$3,899).
Nikon Z6 II + Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 kit |
AU$4,599 AU$3,499 (save AU$1,100)
If you don't need the high pixel count of the Z7 II listed above, then the Z6 II might just be what you're after. The lower res sensor means Nikon can squeeze more speed out of it, giving you up to 14fps continuous shooting. Dual memory cards support XQD, CFexpress and SD formats, plus all the AF features from the more expensive camera is right here.
All for 24% off shipped and sold by Amazon AU, plus an additional AU$200 cashback via Nikon.
Nikon Z7 (body only) |
AU$4,599 AU$2,667 (save AU$1,932)
This is as close to half price as we can get with camera discounts, but 42% off is massive. Sure, it's an older model but Nikon has been pushing firmware updates to make this high-res body as good as the new one. So if you're on a tight budget but eager for a 45.7MP camera, you can't go wrong with this. Note that this offers is from a third party and does not qualify for Nikon's cashback.
You can even get yourself the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 kit for 31% off.
Nikon Z6 (body only) |
AU$2,999 AU$1,965 (save AU$1,034)
Don't scoff at this 24MP sensor as it comes with some serious autofocus prowess, especially since Nikon has rolled out new firmware updates. Sure, it's not going to keep up with the likes of Sony, but it's a steal at under two grand for the body! That's a 34% discount, and you can even snap up a single-lens kit for just AU$2,661 (or 33% off).
Note that this offer is also from a third party and not eligible for cashback.
It might be an entry-level camera, but the Z5 has some pretty advanced features that will allow a budding photographer to grow. With similar features to the Z6 – like a 24.3MP sensor with up to ISO 51,200 native sensitivity, 273-point AF, subject tracking, eye detection and animal AF – this is simply excellent bang for your hard-earned buck. Plus you get an excellent EVF and a fully weather-sealed body. Get it with a zoom lens for 24% off the retail price, and also make sure you take advantage of the AU$150 cashback from Nikon.
Why choose Nikon?
It might have taken Nikon a while to sort out its mirrorless range, but the camera maker's Z-series now has some of the best mirrorless cameras you can get right now. Admittedly it's still lagging behind Sony and Canon, but they're full-featured powerhouses on their own.
Moreover, if you take advantage of these discounts, they're also a lot more affordable than any full-framer from its competition. That's value for money right there.
And then there's the Z-series Nikkor lenses to pair with the above cameras. Nikon has been adding to the stable over the last few years to now include zooms, macros and primes across several focal lengths. If you're an existing Nikon full-frame DSLR user, you can even use your old lenses with an FTZ adapter and save yourself a ton of cash. That said, there are advantages to using native lenses, like AF speed for example.
So if you're not keen on waiting for Black Friday to roll round, then take advantage of these discounts on Amazon right now.
