The telephoto lens has since been discontinued following the arrival of its successor, the Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S II.
In the ranking, Minna Camera classifies lenses by their longest focal length. Zoom lenses reaching 200mm or longer accounted for 51.2% of all zoom-lens transactions, while 200mm was the single most common telephoto-end category, accounting for 17.9% of transactions. In this category, the best-selling model in 2026 so far is Nikon's popular 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens. While US stock seems empty, UK retailers still offer the zoom brand-new, with discounts available.
Zoom lenses covering up to 70mm make up 15% of the transactions, with the Sony FE 20-70mm f/4 G being the most purchased option. Close behind are lenses covering up to 400mm, with 12.5%. The top zoom in this category is the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM.
