The OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro have been rumored for a while, but as their expected announcement date nears, more details are being leaked online. Thanks to a recent announcement from OnePlus, we already knew that the OnePlus 9 series was going to benefit from a new partnership between OnePlus and Hasselblad. However, we now know new information about the sensor that these handsets will use.
Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, recently revealed that the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will use the Sony IMX789 sensor for the main rear camera. This sensor is able to support 4K video recording at 120fps on both handsets, but the OnePlus 9 Pro will also have a Hasselblad Pro mode that will enable it to capture 12bit RAW images as well.

These 12bit images will have 64 times more colors than other flagship camera phones that can only capture 10bit images. If you're a photographer that loves to experiment with your editing, then 12bit RAW images from your camera phone could be a tempting proposition.
The OnePlus 9 is expected to have three cameras on the back, all created in collaboration with Hasselblad. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 9 Pro will have four cameras – but at present, there's no further information on focal lengths or apertures.

Meanwhile, according to leaked press images, we can expect the OnePlus 9 to come in either Blue, Black or Purple and the OnePlus 9 Pro to come in either White, Navy Green or Black. According to (opens in new tab) GSMArena, both handsets are rumored to have 12GB RAM variants and the OnePlus 9 Pro will likely have a glass back panel to enable wireless charging.
The leaked and rumored details for the latest flagship handsets from OnePlus are certainly exciting. However, we'll have to wait for the official announcement for proper confirmation.
