Fujifilm announces X Summit for 27 Jan – GFX 100S and X-E4 to be revealed?
The long-rumored Fujifilm GFX 100S and Fujifilm X-E4 could be announced at the X Summit event on 27 January
Fujifilm has officially announced that Fujifilm X Summit Global 2021 will take place on 27 January – the reported date for a slew of long rumored products, including the Fujifilm GFX 100S and Fujifilm X-E4.
Both the Fujifilm GFX 100S and the Fujifilm X-E4 have been the subject of endless leaks over the past couple of months, though it is the former that has captured most of the imaginations (and headlines) of the online community.
A new version of the incredible Fujifilm GFX 100 medium format camera, the 100S is said to possess the same 102MP image sensor with phase detect AF, but will boast a significantly smaller body.
Indeed, it is alleged to have a form factor similar to the Fujifilm GFX 50S – which is to say that it won't feature the built-in vertical grip that the current GFX 100 has. It will also eschew a D-pad in favor of a joystick, with a single PSAM dial on the top plate, to reduce overall size. A three-way tilt screen is also said to replace the fully articulating design.
The GFX 100S is reported to cost just $5,999 – 40% less than the price tag of the existing GFX 100. A 100MP medium format camera for that price point will surely send shockwaves through the industry.
Fujifilm's bread and butter remains APS-C cameras, of course, so excitement is also high for the rumored Fujifilm X-E4. A successor to 2017's Fujifilm X-E3, this mid-range rangefinder camera will reportedly boast the same 26MP X-Trans sensor featured in recent bodies like the Fujifilm X-T4.
Unlike its predecessor, though, the X-E4 won't have a fixed screen – instead, it is said to possess a tilting screen in a similar vein to the Fujifilm X70.

In addition to these two new cameras, it seems likely that other highly rumored products will all materialize at X Summit. As reported by Fuji Rumors, this includes a new GF lens (the Fujinon GF 80mm f/1.7), a pair of new X lenses (the Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 MKII and Fujinon XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6) and a new film simulation (Nostalgic Negative).
Fujifilm X Summit Global 2021 tips off at 08:00 EST / 05:00 PST / 13:00 GMT 27 on January. Stay tuned as we'll be reporting on everything announced at the event, live as it happens.
