Nikon Z6 III and NX Tether get updates, with Pre-Release Capture coming to Bluetooth remote camera controllers
Nikon has released updates for its full-frame hybrid mirrorless camera and its proprietary tethering software
Nikon has launched not one but two firmware updates, version 2.01 for the Nikon Z6 III and version 2.6.1 for Nikon NX Tether. The former brings Pre-Release Capture to compatible Bluetooth remote controllers among several quality-of-life upgrades and fixes, while the latter adds support for the Nikon Z5IIC alongside various quality-of-life upgrades.
If you’re updating your Nikon Z6 III, make sure you know how to update your Nikon camera’s firmware and be sure to follow Nikon’s own documentation on the download page, which warns to not perform an update with third-party lenses or adapters attached. Only Z-mount Nikkor lenses or the FTZ/FTZ II mount adapters are compatible.
