With the Sony Xperia 1 II growing a little long in the tooth, we're not surprised to hear that Sony is gearing up to announce its brother – the Sony Xperia 1 III. However, while the Xperia 1 II brought some substantial changes with the addition of 5G (making it the first Sony smartphone to include the technology), it seems that the Sony Xperia 1 III will be making some incremental adjustments instead.
Similarly to its predecessor, the Sony Xperia 1 III will be focusing on providing a fantastic multimedia experience for the user. It's rumored that the Xperia 1 III will have a 4K HDR OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio – perfect for playing games or watching movies.

According to LetsGoDigital, the Sony Xperia 1 III will have a minimal design update, retaining the same 6.5" screen. However, we could see the screen edges further reduced and there's also a possibility that the refresh rate might be increased from 60Hz to 120Hz.
One of the most exciting differences between the two models is that the Sony Xperia 1 III is rumored to include the new octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is known for being extremely powerful.
In terms of the cameras, the Sony Xperia 1 III is rumored to retain a similar design to the Xperia 1 II. However, apparently we could be seeing an optical zoom lens this time round. According to LetsGoDigital, this means that "the bottom camera is not round, but rectangular in shape".
We're expecting the Sony Xperia 1 III to retain the front-facing stereo speakers and the 3.5mm headphone jack from the previous generation. We'd also assume that the Mark III will continue to be dust and waterproof and rated to IP68.
While we'll have to wait for the official announcement, it certainly seems as though Sony will have plenty to offer its consumers when the Sony Xperia 1 III is finally released.
