Canon EOS M6 II gets a AU$250 discount, and you'll score a bonus gift card as well

When Canon launched a duo of cameras in August 2019, they both generated a lot of buzz – mostly because of the relatively high resolution sensor used in both. One was the EOS 90D DSLR while the other was an APS-C format EOS M6 Mark II mirrorless camera.

It was, however, the mirrorless version that set the photography world buzzing as it had the makings of one of the best vlogging cameras. And when we tested it, we were not disappointed.

Not only is it a tiny package that's a great travelling companion, it has a spec sheet that will keep beginners and enthusiasts happy. Not only does it boast a 32.5MP sensor (effective pixel count) but its partnership with a Digic 8 means the camera is capable of a rather impressive 14fps burst speed.

It also gives you the ability to record 4K video, alongside Full HD 1080p as well – the first iteration of the M6 was only capable of the latter.

There's eye-detect autofocus onboard and a 3-inch tilting touchscreen that can be turned upwards to become a front-facing display, making it ideal for vloggers.

Most importantly, though, this model ships with a detachable OLED viewfinder in the box, giving users the ability to shoot using an EVF or via live view alone, whatever catches their fancy.

While Canon slapped a price tag of AU$1,749 on the camera and its accompanying EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM kit lens, it's possible to get it for less. Aussie retailer Digital Camera Warehouse is currently offering a AU$250 discount on the package until August 31 and, if you register it with Canon by the same date, you can score yourself a bonus gift card with AU$150 as well. This can be got via redemption directly from Canon's website. That's a total saving of AU$400!

And being an authorised retailer, you'll also get Canon's promise of five years of warranty when you buy from Digital Camera Warehouse, so you can rest assured your camera will be looked after for a few years at the very least.

A total savings of AU$400 makes this purchase a pretty good deal, particularly for anyone looking for a compact camera that can handle both stills and video without a hiccup. It's perfect as an entry-level option and will also keep hobbyists happy. And to get a camera with an impressive spec sheet and performance to match at this price is not bad at all, if we say so ourselves. Just be sure to grab it before August 31 and redeem the gift card by then as well.
