The EOS M50 is one of Canon's best cameras for novices. Canon’s EOS M mirrorless cameras combine compact dimensions with user-friendly controls, but we reckon Canon really hit the sweet spot with the EOS M50. It has super-cute styling with comfortable rounded edges, but the key features for us are the built-in electronic viewfinder and the flip-out vari-angle rear screen.

This is an affordable, friendly camera that’s well-featured and really quite versatile, even for vloggers. There are some limitations to the EOS M50’s 4K video – it has a narrower angle of view and it doesn’t use Canon’s efficient Dual Pixel CMOS AF – but we can forgive that in a camera that’s as cute and as affordable as this one.
Normally we’d recommend beginners get an entry-level DSLR, but we’ll make an exception for the EOS M50, which is probably one of the best mirrorless cameras for beginners at these prices.
