These rumored Canon RF lenses could be total game-changers
There could potentially be some exciting pieces of glass on the horizon, but will these Canon RF lenses even appear?
It's shaping up to be an impressive year for Canon. With the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III making waves in the sports photography community, and an entire collection of Canon photographers chomping at the bit to get their hands on the Canon EOS R5, it seems the imaging giant can do no wrong. However, if this rumored list of Canon lenses is correct, this year is about to get even better.
With potential superstar lenses such as the Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM and the Canon RF 70-135mm f/2L USM, perhaps 2020 is the year where we really see what the Canon RF mount is truly capable of.

As rounded up by website Canon Rumors, here are the rumored and confirmed lenses that could be appearing in 2020:
- Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STIM (Announced)
- Canon RF 100-500 f/4.5-7.1L IS USM (Announced)
- Canon RF 10-24mm f/4L USM
- Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM
- Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM
- Canon RF 85mm f/1.8 IS STM
- Canon RF 70-135mm f/2L USM
There are also two extenders that have been announced as well, the Canon RF 1.4x Extender and the Canon 2.0x Extender.
While the majority of the lenses on this list are only rumored (and should be taken with a pinch of salt), it's definitely gratifying to see that Canon is rounding out their RF lens collection. One of the lenses we're most exciting to see is the Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM, which simply screams wedding photographer. The Canon RF 85mm f/1.8 IS STM also looks like it would be a great piece of events kit as well.
We're also interested to see more about the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM. There was definitely a 50mm f/1.8-sized hole missing in the Canon lenses line-up, so it's pleasing to see that this will be filled. A 50mm f/1.8 is a fantastic budget-friendly fast lens that can function as the perfect piece of starter kit. However, we're intrigued to see that this rumored lens might be capable of macro. This definitely isn't typical for a 50mm f/1.8, and we wonder whether this might make this lens a little less affordable.
