This is a moment that many Sony FE users have been waiting for – the announcement of a lens to fill what has for a long time been a hole in the Sony lens line-up. An FE 35mm F1.8 lens has arrived.

Users of the best Sony cameras previously had to choose between the Zeiss Distagon FE 35mm F1.4 ZA – an expensive, premium lens – and the older Zeiss 35mm F2.8 if they wanted a 35mm perspective on an E-mount camera. The new FE 35mm F1.8 slots nicely in between, providing an impressive balance between performance and price – it doesn’t have the “G Master” designation of Sony’s premium lenses, and is much more affordable as a result.
