UPDATE: The rumored Fujifilm X-E4 may not be getting the latest sensor technology on the market, and will likely reuse the 26MP sensor familiar to recent Fujifilm bodies instead.
The anticipated Fujifilm X-E4 will, according to reports, continue with the current generation X-Trans sensor featured in the Fujifilm X-T4 – which would continue the manufacturer's trend of reserving the latest and greatest technology for its flagship mirrorless cameras.

That being the case, it wouldn’t make sense to have the less expensive, compact line of cameras debut with the latest sensors available – such as Sony's 43MP APS-C image sensor, which is currently on the market.
However, according to Fuji Rumors, this sensor is likely to debut in a potential Fujifilm X-H2 instead. (Fujifilm has confirmed that the Fujifilm X-H1 camera will be updated, and that the line has not been discontinued, though at this stage, there are no verified specifications.)

ORIGINAL STORY (17 Dec): Fujifilm produces some of the most popular compact APS-C cameras that are currently on the market. However, with the imaging company's core customer base predominantly interested in photography over video, Fujifilm seems to have been reluctant to feature video features, such as tilting or articulating screens.
The best example of this is the Fujifilm X100V camera, a beloved compact camera that's focused primarily towards photographers. This camera featured a fixed screen right up until the fifth generation, where a tilting screen was implemented.

It seems like the upcoming Fujifilm X-E4 could receive a similar treatment. Rumor website Fuji Rumors has recently reported that the Fujifilm X-E4 won't have a fixed screen. While there are no further details on what kind of screen the camera will have, it's interesting that Fujifilm has decided to eschew the previous design for a new direction.
The Fujifilm X-T4 is another camera that has had a major change in the design of its screen. Since its second generation, Fujifilm has been using a tilting design in the camera. However, as video features started to increase in popularity, a fully articulating screen was implemented in the latest X-T4 model.
However, we would be surprised if the upcoming Fujifilm X-E4 receives an articulating screen like the X-T4. Instead, we wonder whether it would use a tilting screen design, just like the Fujifilm X100V. Both cameras feature a lightweight and compact design, so we wouldn't be surprised to see the X-E4 follow in the X100V's footsteps and implement a tilting screen.
No matter what kind of moveable screen is implemented, we're excited to see Fujifilm explore different screen designs. Vari-angle and tilting screens can be incredibly helpful, no matter whether you're a photographer or videographer, so we're sure consumers will be happy to see more choice on the market.
