Display specialist AOC's latest monitor boasts an extra-large 31.5" (80 cm) IPS display and comes with a brilliant 4K/UHD resolution (3840x2160 pixels). Thanks to compliance with the VESA Display HDR600 standard, the screen delivers a 10-bit color depth resulting in 1.07 billion colors and covers 135% of the sRGB, 100% of the AdobeRGB and 98% of the DCI-P3 color spaces, which makes it an ideal monitor for photo editing, with impressive contrast and colors ranging from luminescent white to the deepest black.
The eye-popping visuals continue to the looks of the product itself, having been designed by Studio F. A. Porsche and picking up a Red Dot Design Award in the process. Design features include a the four-sided frameless, slim, tiltable and swivellable display that sits atop a shiny metal tripod stand, which is height-adjustable to 120mm.
The aluminum back-plate with rounded corners houses the cable connectors and creates a fine contrast to the dark grey flat back cover, and this plate remains in the same position when the display is rotated into portrait position so the cables stay in the same place. The display also comes with a VESA grid for wall mounting.
AOC already have Porsche-designed 24-inch and 27-inch monitors in its range - the PDS241 and PDS271.
Connections include USB-C, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB 3.2 hub. The USB-C connection provides DisplayPort Alternate Mode for transferring high-resolution video signals from a notebook or other computer, while USB Power delivery can simultaneously charge the notebook battery with up to 65 W. Perhaps the only thing not so eye-catching is the name: The AOC U32U1 is available in stores now at an RRP of £829; US and AUS pricing and availability has yet to be announced.
