The Fujinon XF2X TC WR can be a real money-spinner, doubling the power of your existing telephoto lens instead of buying big new lens.

Digital Camera World Verdict

Here’s what I like about the Fujinon XF2X TC WR, It’s not much more than an inch long and very lightweight, but it doubles my telephoto reach when using a compatible lens. Build and performance are impressive and it costs a fraction of the price of buying an extra super-telephoto prime or zoom.

Pros

  • +

    Twice as much telephoto reach

  • +

    Easily manageable size and weight

  • +

    Tough build with weather-seals

Cons

  • -

Knocks 2 f/stops off the main lens aperture

  • -

Sharpness takes a bit of a hit

  • -

    Incompatible with many lenses

This 2x teleconverter is built for Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras and, like many Fujinon lenses, has a WR (Weather-Resistant) construction. For Fujifilm shooters, it’s one of the best teleconverters and is compatible with some of the best Fujinon X-mount telephoto lenses. But the list isn’t a long one so if you’re not sure if it’ll work with your lens, here’s Fujifilm’s official teleconverter and lens compatibility chart.

The teleconverter comes with a standard rear cap and a domed front cap, the latter to protect its protruding internal section. (Image credit: Matthew Richards)
