It’s also compatible with a wide range of Nikon lenses, from Nikon and third-party makers, so it'll grow with you as your photography improves.

The Nikon D3500 is the latest version of Nikon’s entry-level DSLR, refreshing the popular D3400 with an upgraded sensor and EXPEED image processing system to give improved speed, detail and colours. Battery life has also had a boost, with Nikon claiming a pretty amazing 1,550 shots on a single charge.

It’s Nikon’s cheapest and simplest DSLR – it’s also the lightest, weighing only 415g, body only, and that’s with the battery and a memory card.

You don’t get 4K video, but the D3500 can shoot full HD 1920x1080 video at up to 60/50fps. It also doesn’t come with Wi-Fi, but with built-in Bluetooth you can transfer images to your smart device and fire the shutter remotely using your smartphone.

We called the camera "the best entry-level DSLR you can buy" when we reviewed the Nikon D3500 in October – and at this price it's even better value for money.
