Voigtländer launches silver versions of two of its X-mount lenses
The Nokton 23mm f/1.2 and 35mm f/1.2 both get the silver treatment
We rather like Voigtländer's Nokton 23mm f/1.2 lens for APS-C cameras - it's beautifully made, very sharp if you stop down to f/4, and can produce gorgeous bokeh wide open at f/1.2. The lens has been available for Nikon DX and Fujifilm X-series cameras for some time, but only in a black finish. But now Fujifilm X shooters have the option to pre-order a silver version of the lens, making it a perfect match for silver editions of cameras like the X-T5, X-M5 and X-E5. The pre-order price is currently $599, making it a handy $50 cheaper than the current black edition.
Both color options appear identical in every other way, meaning you get an all-metal barrel, and though there's no autofocus, there are electronical contacts enabling data communication with the camera body. Inside are ten optical elements, including a complex double-sided aspherical element and two ‘abnormal partial-dispersion’ glass elements that aim to minimize chromatic aberration. The 23mm focal length makes the lens ideal for street photography, equating to 35mm on a full-frame body. Despite the fast maximum aperture and solid build, Voigtländer has managed to keep weight down to 240g, so the lens feels right at home on a camera like the X-M5. And that's not the only Nokton lens to get the silver treatment: the Nokton 35mm f/1.2 for Fujifilm X mount can also now be had in silver (the black version has been available since 2021). The lens features an almost symmetrical, Double-Gauss layout, which helps reduce optical aberrations over a large focal plane. It has 12 aperture blades for smooth, rounded bokeh, a minimum focus distance of 0.3 meters and a front filter size of 46mm. Expect to pay $649 for the silver version, which matches the price of its black counterpart.
Both the Nokton 23mm f/1.2 and Nokton 35mm f/1.2 can now be pre-ordered in silver from B&H.
