At the beginning of the month, I reported on the Dyson CameraJet, a new toothbrush that puts a 100,000-pixel camera in your mouth so you can effectively jet wash your teeth. And now, a photographer has taken said toothbrush out and about on a photo walk. Talk about filling the frame!
The whole thing has been distilled into a Reel by @allthegearnoskill that highlights the tiny lens that’s just beneath the brush head, stating, “if there’s a camera… there’s a way to take photos, so let’s go!” The video proceeds to show imagery captured by the toothbrush, and it’s rather interesting to see.
Firstly, the images are rather warped, but I’m actually surprised at how clear they are – this is a 100K-MP camera after all. The other thing that’s noticeable is the quirky color science, producing a decidedly filmic look. In fact, the purple-hued imagery reminds me of Lomography’s Lomochrome Purple XR film.
And while $500 might seem like an awful lot of money for a toothbrush, it’s an entry-level price point for a camera nowadays. You’re looking around that price for a Canon EOS R100, and before you point out that the Canon is an interchangeable-lens camera, the brush heads are removable, so technically, it’s an interchangeable-lens camera, too... right?
