Compact camera launches can be exciting, especially when they combine a high-quality Leica-branded lens and a viewfinder. When the Panasonic Lumix L10 was revealed in May 2026, it was one such release. Now, just months after launching, it has been named EISA compact Camera 2026-2027.
The Lumix L10 is a premium point-and-shoot model with a built-in Leica DC Vario-Summilux 3.1x optical zoom lens and, most importantly, a built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF) – an increasingly rare feature on new compact cameras. It's an addition many photographers still find essential, but one that's often sacrificed for a smaller design.
Just 12 days after its launch, the compact camera debuted at No.1 on the Japanese sales charts at retailer Yodobashi, making its early impact and popularity clear. As we noted in our review, it's a "very convincing alternative" to the hugely popular Fujifilm X100VI – a camera that is almost always on backorder. Now, the Lumix L10 has added industry recognition from EISA, a major consumer technology awards group.
EISA Compact Camera 2026-2027
EISA explains, "The Lumix L10 is an advanced compact camera that’s designed for enthusiast photographers. It employs a 20.4MP Four Thirds sensor, with a unique multi-aspect ratio design that encourages creative composition.
"This is combined with a 24-75mm equivalent, f/1.7-2.8 optically stabilized lens that’s ideal for everyday photography, even in low light. The camera can also record 5.6K video at 60fps, and 4K at 120fps.
"Other highlights include fast and accurate subject detection autofocus, a high-quality electronic viewfinder, a fully articulated screen, and a large, long-lasting battery.
"The stylish design offers plenty of manual control, including an aperture ring on the lens. It’s probably the best zoom compact camera yet made."
