Compact camera wins third major industry award for "extreme standard" – it's one of a kind and earns 'Best of the Best'
The world's highest-resolution compact camera continues its award-winning run, earning a prestigious Red Dot 'Best of the Best' award for its radical design
The Fujifilm GFX100 RF is a truly unique compact camera, bringing medium format photography to a remarkably portable body. Featuring a 102MP sensor, it is the highest-resolution compact to date.
Following its DGP Imaging Award win last year, one of Japan's most prestigious honors recognizing innovation and excellence in digital image making, and its IF Design Award win in 2026 for "embodying pure photographic pleasure", it now takes home the Red Dot Design Award 'Best of the Best'.
Weighing just 735g, the Fujifilm GFX100RF combines the portability of the APS-C Fujifilm X100VI with the power of the GFX system. The multi-award-winning camera redefines what a compact can be, making it one of the most distinctive high-resolution cameras available today.
The Fujifilm GFX100RF wins the Red Dot Design award
"Taking a photograph begins not with the act of pressing the shutter release button but with the decision as to which part of the world should be shown. The Fujifilm GFX100RF puts this moment center stage," Red Dot explains.
"In use, the Fujifilm GFX100RF seems less like a piece of technology and more like an analog tool whose quality is conveyed by its tactile properties, weight and resistance,” noted the jury, clearly impressed.
"Complexity has been not reduced but reimagined." The jury described this approach as "extreme standard" – a term that captures the tension between radical reduction and maximum refinement.
Red Dot adds, "The camera’s quality is, in effect, the result of the rigor with which an established principle has been advanced. The ability to choose the aspect ratio right from the start offers a new form of photographic control – not through additional functions but through the meticulous restructuring of existing possibilities."
