Sony cameras are being heavily discounted for Black Friday in Australia

The Canon EOS RP may be a great choice if you're looking for an affordable full-frame mirrorless camera, but if you're after the best of the best – we're looking at you, Sony – then you usually pay a premium. So when investing in something like a camera, and perhaps a lens or two, it can pay off to wait for big sales like Black Friday to roll round.

And, in Australia, this year's sale hasn't disappointed, with plenty of Sony gear being discounted significantly. Whether you're after a full-frame mirrorless, or just want a compact Cyber-shot, there's plenty of savings to be had. Many of the best offers are from Sony Australia directly, although other major retailers have added their two cents and are offering some cracking deals of their own.

Below are a few our favourite Black Friday bargains on Sony gear:

Mirrorless cameras

Sony Alpha A7 III (body only) | AU$2,299 (was AU$2,599; save AU$300)

It's one of the best all-round full-frame mirrorless cameras you can get right now, and the best price you can get for Black Friday is directly from Sony, where it's AU$300 cheaper than usual.

In case you find Sony has run out of stock over the course of this big sale, it's also available on eBay Australia for AU$2,303 with the use of the checkout code PITCH20.View Deal

Sony Alpha A7R III (body only) | AU$2,999 (was AU$3,999; save AU$1,000)

Sony's megapixel monster may already have a fourth generation out, but there's been no official price drop for this Mark III version yet. It's still not a cheap mirrorless, but Camera House has the A7R III for under AU$3,000, or 25% off, if you're keen on the high resolution images this one can produce.View Deal

Sony Alpha A6400 (body only) | AU$1,122 (was AU$1,398; save AU$276)

Mirrorless cameras don't have to have full frame sensors to be great. In fact, this little compact APS-C option from Sony has been one of our favourites and, with this CameraPro deal, you can snag the body and save AU$275 at the same time. It's well worth the money and will not disappoint.View Deal

Bridge cameras

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 III | AU$999 (was AU$2,099; save AU$1,100)

This is one whopper of an offer direct from Sony, considering its RX10 range of bridge cameras are ridiculously premium. However, this goes way beyond our expectations, as we're in love with these snapper. So grab this bridge camera if you're looking for a 25x zoom to get closer to all the action in a form factor that's similar to a DSLR but with simpler functionality, not to mention lighter too.View Deal

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 IV | AU$1,614 (was AU$2,209; save AU$510)

It's the latest iteration of Sony's excellent bridge cameras and the best yet, but it's as expensive as buying an enthusiast-level DSLR or mirrorless snapper. Thankfully, though, CameraPro has reduced that premium price by over AU$500, making our favourite bridge camera that much more affordable.View Deal

Compact cameras

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 VI | AU$1,274.15 (was AU$1,499; save AU$224.85)

There are now seven models in Sony's excellent RX100 series, and this sixth iteration is still super competitive for its asking price. If you'd like a travelling companion that even shoots 4K video, then this one comes with almost AU$225 off the RRP directly from Sony.View Deal

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV | AU$679.15 (was AU$949; save AU$269.85)

If you're on a budget and would still prefer to get yourself one of the RX100 compacts, then the fourth generation is not a bad option. While it's not as quick as the latest model, it can still hold its own. And it's way more affordable than the later models at Camera House.View Deal

Sony E mount 24-105mm F4 G OSS | AU$1,899 (was AU$2,099; save AU$200)

It's one of the best all-round optics you can get for your Sony camera, with superb performance and results. And instead of paying over AU$2,000 on this excellent glass, you can get it for a bit over 10% less from Camera House.View Deal

Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 G Masters lens | AU$2,294 (was AU$2,799; save AU$505)

This is another superb piece of glass from Sony in the G Masters series, and it too usually costs a pretty penny. Yes, it's still over $2K with this discount, but you will score AU$500 off what is an undeniably great zoom lens – one witha constant aperture of f/2.8 for those gorgeous depth-of-field effects and consistently excellent results and performance.View Deal
