The Cat S62 Pro has been officially announced, complete with the most advanced integrated thermal camera available in a smartphone and an incredibly rugged and durable build. As the third generation of the Cat 60 series, the Cat S62 Pro showcases the latest thermal-imaging camera tech, being powered by the FLIR Lepton 3.5 and the new MyFLIR™ Pro app.

While the temperature range of -20ºC – 400ºC will remain the same as the previous Cat S61, the Cat S62 Pro will offer a massive 400% increase in the number of thermal pixels, providing even more detail for users to explore.

Marketed to professionals working in tough environments, the Cat S62 Pro has a protection rating of IP68 and has achieved the US military standard Mil Spec 810H. Its rigorous testing includes repeated drop tests from 1.8 meters onto steel, with multiple drops onto every side and corner. It's also undergone extensive waterproof, dirt and dust proof, temperature extreme survivability, vibration and humidity tests.

The Cat S62 Pro is also capable of being fully submerged and washed with soaps and disinfectants, as well as being cleaned with alcohol wipes. This is a particularly attractive quality considering the world's renewed focus on hygiene.

The thermal imaging camera is also pretty impressive, as for the first time professionals and consumers can access the FLIR Systems' VividIR™ image processing, enhanced MSX® (Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging), and visible-to-thermal blending technologies integrated into their phone.

Users will now be able to vary the intensity of MSX, which overlays visual outline detail from the scene onto the thermal image. They'll also be able to use the new alpha blending feature to combine thermal detail with the visual image from the Sony dual-pixel camera. These upgrades mean that users will be able to enjoy enhanced image quality and higher thermal resolution.

Some of the most exciting specs include an impressive 4,000mAh battery, a Gorilla Glass 6 screen, a fingerprint sensor, dual SIM slots, waterproof for up to 1.5 meters for 35 minutes, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera, a two year warranty and security updates cover for three years.

The Cat S62 Pro will cost €649 / £599 / $749 and will arrive in August 2020. You can sign up for exclusive pre-order and launch information on the Cat Phones website (opens in new tab).
