Godox’s new suction-cup mount enables you to stick your light to walls, windows and wherever else!

Godox has been on something of a tear recently with innovative and unusual new products, such as the Godox C100 half-camera, half-light-meter… thing.

The latest lighting product from the company – which started as a lighting specialist, after all – is a suction-based mount that provides a unique means of setting up your lights. You can attach them to the wall!

Or a window. Or a desk. Basically any flat surface, really. The Godox ES01 is essentially an electronic flash base with a suction cup on the bottom and a built-in battery to keep it attached. Supporting up to 1.3lbs / 590g of weight, it is compatible with a number of small Godox flashes and LEDs – and should work with any flash below the weight limit.

This means you’ll be able to use the mount with some of the diminutive Godox flashes that have impressed us recently, including the Godox iT32 – which comes with a trigger kit that enables it to be used completely off-camera.

Weighing just 2.4oz / 69g itself, the Godox ES01 is an absolutely tiny piece of kit, measuring 2.7 x 2.7 x 1.7 inches / 68 x 68 x 42mm.

To mount it, you simply press the silicone suction cup down on a flat, non-porous surface; the motorized pump will then activate to remove the air and secure the mount. Attach your flash, shoot your shot and then when you’re done, press the release button to break the air seal.

Given its tempting list price of just $29 (around £20 / $AU40), I can see the ES01 having a lot of appeal for budget-conscious portrait photographers and vloggers – especially those working in cramped indoor environments, where you don’t necessarily have space to maneuver with a tripod or a desk to mount a mini one.

The full list of compatible lights supplied by Godox is as follows: the TT350, V350, iT32, iT30Pro, iT22, iT20, iM22, iM20, iM30Pro and iM30 flashes, and the LED6R and LED6Bi compact LED lights.

Plus, if you want to mount a larger flash or light unit, Godox is also selling the product in three-mount kits with a three-pointed base, enabling you to use the suction power of three simultaneously. The K3 kit has a screw mount in the center and costs $79 (£59 / AU$110).

We’ll have to wait to get our hands on the Godox ES10 to see if it works as advertised, but you can head to the Godox website for more information.
