Amazon Prime Day is the online megastore's way of offering a mid-year sale that is designed to reward its loyal customers. It is usually held in July – but although the actual date is kept secret until a few weeks before, almost certainly going to be postponed this year due to the current Covid crisis. Until very recently the smart money was on the Amazon Prime Day 2020 taking place in early September.
The latest report from CNBC, however, suggests Amazon is now planning on an October date – a further postponement due to the current Covid-19 crisis. The actual date of the sale is kept secret until a few weeks before, so we'll just have to wait for official word to be announced for when Amazon Prime Day 2020 will be. We can, however, speculate.
If October is truly when Amazon plans on hosting Amazon Prime Day 2020, there are only four possible dates to choose from: as it always starts on a Monday, 5 October is an obvious candidate. While it could also be held on 12, 19 or 26 October, delaying the mega deals any further would mean the sale would make it uncomfortable close to the build-up to the Christmas run-up and Black Friday 2020 which, this year, falls on 27 November.
Last year we got a two day sale - and we so no reason why Amazon would not do the same again. Amazon Prime Day 2019 started on Monday 15 July 2019 and is extended to a full 48 hours (rather than the 36 hours we had in 2018) ending at midnight (Pacific Time) on Tuesday 16 July.
