A rugged and tough SSD with an abundance of equally impressive competitors

Digital Camera World Verdict

The Samsung T7 Shield is basically just the Samsung T7 with extra durability. With the addition of an IP65 rating and a 3m drop protection, this SSD will appeal to those who are concerned about the safety of their data. A read speed of 1050MB/sec and a write speed of 1000MB/sec puts it on par with most other providers but is far from the quickest on the market. Unfortunately, it lacks the fingerprint sensor of the Samsung Touch which would have really set this SSD over and above its competitors. For the benefit of extra toughness customers will pay a premium but in many cases it really won't be worth the extra cost.

The Samsung T7 range is looking pretty formidable now. The T7 offers good storage capacities with great encryption and the T7 Touch has a brilliant little fingerprint sensor which removes the need to remember a password. The T7 shield largely builds on top of the T7 by delivering a more rugged case that is IP65-rated and has a 3m drop resistance.

The read and write speeds of the T7 Shield are comparable with almost all competitors and are faster than the T5 Evo which has disappointingly slow speeds.
