Think of Ricoh and you immediately think of high-quality compact cameras designed specifically for enthusiasts and professionals. The GR II is the company's most recent model, and today, on Amazon Prime Day, you can get it for just £449.
That's a saving of £110, or around 20%, on the previous price of £559. What does that get you? A 16MP APS-C sensor, a sharp lens with a focal length equivalent to 28mm and aperture of f/2.8, and a robust magnesium alloy body that can fit into your pocket. Not a bad deal!

It may not be the newest, but the GR II is still the company's flagship compact camera, and very much one for purists. You won't find 4K video or tilting touchscreens here: the focus is very much on getting a solid imaging core in place for those wanting to capture everyday life, street shots, travel images, landscapes and more.
The camera's 19mm f/2.8 optic (equivalent to 28mm in 35mm terms) is expectedly sharp and largely free of aberrations, while the sensor lacks an optical low-pass filter so that it can get every drop of detail through to the final image. Around the back, the 3in LCD has a crisp 1.23m-dot resolution, while in-camera Raw processing lets you touch up your images without needing to go anywhere near a computer.
Custom presets let you recall commonly used combinations of exposure parameters and picture styles, while Wi-Fi and NFC allow you to get your images out to the wider world without hassle. If you want, you can even pop an optional viewfinder into the hotshoe, or even a flashgun.
