SanDisk has announced two new SanDisk portable SSDs – the SanDisk Extreme and the SanDisk Extreme PRO. These two new SSDs offer nearly 2x the speed over previous generations, a powerful NVMe solid state performance, a forged aluminum chassis to help keep the drive cool, an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance and 256-bit AES hardware encryption.

With everyone from professional videographers to everyday smartphone users dealing with high-density and high resolution files, a hard drive that can keep up with your demands is a necessity. Luckily, the SanDisk Extreme and the SanDisk Extreme PRO are designed to keep up with today's high quality content demands.

SanDisk is making the Extreme PRO available now in 2TB for a MSRP of $418.99 and is expecting to ship a 1TB version later this year (although there isn't a specific date as of yet).

Meanwhile, the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD will feature a read speed of up to 1,050MBs and a write speed of up to 1,000MB/s. The SanDisk Extreme is available now in a 500GB version for an MSRP of $133.99 and a 1TB version for an MSRP of $216.99.

Tyler Stableford, a SanDisk Extreme Team member, says, "When every second counts, I need fast and powerful solutions that work as quickly as I do. I rely on SanDisk SSDs to keep up with my creativity. As an artist, speed is one of my greatest strengths, and I know with the SanDisk Extreme line of SSDs, I can get the job done with greater efficiency and capacity, and I never have to worry about running out of memory wherever the job takes me."

Both SanDisk Extreme portable SSDs will be backed by a five-year limited warranty and are available at the Western Digital Store and selected retailers worldwide. Both new SanDisk Extreme SSDs will eventually replace the previous generations of the same name that are still currently being sold.
