Manfrotto has launched its first photo and video travel tripod. According to the camera accessory outfit: “Befree 3-Way Live Advanced is the first travel tripod kit on the market developed for both photo and video applications.” The kit comprises Manfrotto’s new Befree 3-way Live Head and the Befree Advanced aluminum tripod.
This dual-functionality travel tripod could prove one of the best travel tripods for content creators on the move, and would be a great pairing with cameras that are designed for photo and video use, like the Nikon Z6 mirrorless and Nikon D780 DSLR.
Plenty of photographers are doubling as videographers these days (and vice versa), and so a portable all-in-one solution for photo and video content creation makes a lot of sense. We’ve yet to get our hands on the Manfrotto Befree 3-Way Live Advanced, but who knows, maybe it has the potential to topple the belt buckle bottle opener as our fave multifunction gadget! Here are its key features...
Manfrotto Befree 3-Way Live Advanced design details
The Befree 3-way Live Head features foldable handles for “unparalleled compactness” and boasts a 6kg payload. Video tripods are all about smooth operation and the Live Advanced uses Manfrotto’s high-performance Befree Fluid Drag System, on both panoramic and tilt movements.
We’re told it’s “built to offer the smoothest level of control and movements and exceptional stability, even in extreme temperatures (-30°/+70°).” The head features three bubble levels and the aluminum 200PL-PRO plate, which is fully compatible with Manfrotto’s RC2 and Arca-Swiss type head attachments. The head’s plate-holder is also compatible with Manfrotto’s 501PL video plate.
The spider has been designed for stability on challenging terrain and the QPL Travel lever leg-locking system “makes setup and adjustment easy and secure”. The leg-angle selector is built for right and left-handed users, and the tripod features three leg angle positions. It comes with Easy Link connectors for external accessories.
The Manfrotto Befree 3-Way Live Advanced is available at the recommended retail price of £249.95/$279.99.
