As many amazing new cameras as we've seen lately, we've seen just as many inventive new camera lenses to go with them.

The EOS R system is rapidly maturing with optics like the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM (opens in new tab) and the double-duty Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM (opens in new tab) that's as perfect for portraits as it is for miniatures.

Then there are new twists on familiar formulas, like the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD (opens in new tab) (which is half the weight and two-thirds the length of 70-200mm trinities), and the essential Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art (opens in new tab).

With all this great new glass, though, the big question is which lenses are the photo public actually buying? Well, as we ready for Amazon Prime Day 2020 next week, the retailer has rounded up the best-selling new lens optics – and one of them is sure to be a massive surprise!

So, here are Amazon's 5 hottest lenses this week…

1) Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art

(opens in new tab)

Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art + memory bundle: $1,099 (opens in new tab)
Sigma's brilliant 24-70mm f/2.8 for Sony E mount is the top seller in this crazy bundle, which comes with a 1TB LaCie Rugged Mini HDD and 64GB SanDisk card.

2) Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD

(opens in new tab)

Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD: $1,199 (opens in new tab)
Another Sony trinity lens comes in at two… well, it's a sort-of trinity. At 50% the weight and 75% the length of regular 70-200 f/2.8s, Tamron's design is pure genius.

3) Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM

(opens in new tab)

Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM: $2,699 (opens in new tab)
Yet another fantastic RF optic from Canon, delivering the same stellar performance of the EF 100-400mm but with 25% more reach and superior stabilization.

4) Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 XF

(opens in new tab)

Viltrox 56mm f/1.4 XF: $329 (opens in new tab)
Viltrox' new lens may not have the wild f/1.0 aperture of the Fujinon XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR (opens in new tab), but with its autofocus and 84mm equivalent focal length it's perfect for portraits.

5) Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM

(opens in new tab)

Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM: $599 (opens in new tab)
One of the most hotly anticipated RF lenses, this affordable portrait prime doubles up as a macro optic, making it another a must-have lens for EOS R system owners.
