Panasonic’s S5 II X is a video monster, and it just got £200 cheaper

Amazon has knocked £200 off one of Panasonic’s most capable full-frame hybrid cameras, with the Panasonic Lumix S5 II X and 18-40mm S lens now down to just £1,199 from £1,399.

That is a seriously tempting price for a camera designed to handle both high-quality stills and professional-level video in one relatively compact package.

The S5 II X is built around a 24.2MP full-frame sensor and Panasonic’s Phase Hybrid autofocus system, while Active I.S. helps keep handheld footage and stills steady. Video is where this camera really stands out, though, with support for C4K/4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit recording, V-Log, ProRes, RAW video output and even recording to an external USB SSD.

That makes it particularly appealing for filmmakers, content creators and hybrid shooters who want something more serious than a conventional enthusiast camera without stepping up to a much larger cinema setup. You still get strong stills performance, but the extra video tools give the S5 II X a level of flexibility that is difficult to ignore at this price.

The included Lumix S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 lens also makes a lot of sense as part of the package. It weighs just 155g and covers everything from an ultra-wide 18mm to a more natural 40mm focal length, making it a handy lightweight option for travel, vlogging, landscapes and everyday shooting.

At £1,199 for the camera and lens together, this feels like one of the stronger full-frame hybrid deals currently available at Amazon. Saving £200 is welcome in itself, but getting this level of video capability, full-frame image quality and a genuinely compact zoom in one bundle makes the Lumix S5 II X especially easy to recommend at this price.
