The BillyChip X Rankin photo contest seeks image submissions and donations on the theme ‘Generosity is Priceless’

2020 has been one life-changing year, from the Coronavirus Pandemic to the rising of the Black Lives Matter Movement.
A charitable enterprise called The BA Hope Foundation is also hoping it will be the year that it launches its nationwide rollout of the 'Billy Chip' – a token that can be purchased for £2 and donated to the homeless to exchange for a hot or cold drink. The idea behind the token is that people can buy a chip and don't have to fear they are funding a drug habit or unscrupulous begging.
So where does photography come in? A fundraising photo competition is underway to get the The Billy Chip distributed around the UK, and by entering and donating, you could be in for a chance to win an amazing work experience placement with Rankin himself at Rankin Studios!
Competition theme
This year's theme for the Billy Chip photo competition is “Generosity is Priceless,” something that is surely a good mantra for the current climate.
The Billy Chip Foundation is hoping that the theme should inspire all entrants to go out and document acts of kindness/generosity. From handpicking a bunch of flowers to feeding someone on the street, they want to see what has pulled on your heartstrings and caused you to fire your shutter in these trying times.
All photographers should be taking the upmost care and precautions when photographing, please maintain social distancing guidelines as well as making sure you have full permission to photograph your subject. We want kindness, generosity and compassion to be at the very epicentre of this project.

What are the prizes?
Rankin will be judging the images, and the overall winner will receive a day at his prestigious studio.
Runners up will also be in for the chance of winning some incredible photography equipment, kindly donated by Manfrotto, Lowepro, Blackrapid, EVOC, Rebecca Carpenter Photography and Rankin Archive!

Enter your images before 20 August
To be in with a chance of winning, photographers are being asked to upload files under 8MB, with their name, the title of the image and a short description of why they have chosen it and what it represents.
The closing date is 20 August.
