Fujifilm Australia is doing something really cool later this month to celebrate World Photography Day. To keep the festivities of the celebration (on August 19) going for all us shutter-clickers, the brand will host a real-life color hunt workshop three days later, on August 22.
Unfortunately the event is now at capacity, but this is the sort of thing I love from photography brands – so I wanted to share it with you anyway, as it could help inspire your own color hunt.
If you don’t already know, color hunting is a viral Instagram photography trend where creators head out with their cameras in search of specific hues to shoot. From blue-dominant street corners to lilac landscapes, I’ve seen many interesting “color-hunted” compositions – and it’s one of the few photography trends I actually like.
The Australian Fujifilm event, a guided photo walk, will take place in Sydney, beginning at the Fujifilm House of Photography for a practical workshop with local professional photographer Henry C.
From here, the group will make its way to the city’s central business district, hunting for three specific colors: forest green, cobalt blue and merlot red.
Fujifilm didn’t choose these colors at random. Following a study, the camera giant identified these three hues as the most-photographed by Australian photographers so far in 2026.
According to the “representative” study, which surveyed 1,000 photographers, the top trending colors captured by Australians this year are forest green (49%), cobalt blue (39%), butter yellow (22%), merlot red (19%), mocha brown (19%) and fuchsia pink (16%).
The camera giant has said that attendees will also get to test out the best Fujifilm cameras during the day, as well as print their images at the House of Photography. Those who share an image from the day on Instagram and tag Fujifilm will also go into the running to win a Fujinon XF 35mm f/2 R WR lens.
What a great event, turning a viral trend into a practical photography opportunity for developing your skills and connecting with other creators. And there’s no reason why you can’t organize your own color hunt in your area and reap the rewards. Good luck!
