There are many different camera straps (opens in new tab) and camera plates on the market, and the choice for many photographers is often simply down to habit, but a new design concept is currently being crowd-funded on Kickstarter, and it has a bold aim: to 'fundamentally change the way you photograph'.
The SPINN CP.01 camera plate and accompanying SPINN Heavy Duty Camera Strap offers a solution for photographers on the move that the SPINN team says offers 'new freedom of movement'. No matter your personal style of shooting, SPINN's aim is to create a truly ergonomic shooting experience.
Machined from solid aluminium, the SPINN CP.01 plate shifts your camera's centre of gravity from the top to its base, and features a reversible, asymmetric design can be used with any DSLR (opens in new tab) or mirrorless camera (opens in new tab).
The design of the plate is intended to solve common camera problems, such as the strap becoming tangled, or obstructing the view of the camera's controls.
"During my years of professional experience as a DoP/cameraman and photographer it has always been incomprehensible to me why carrying a camera has to be so uncomfortable and unwieldy, why the camera slips off my shoulder when walking, why the carrying strap constantly hangs between my fingers and in front of my eyes", explains SPINN CEO Kai Wiehagen.
Photographers who want to support the SPINN system can do so via Kickstarter (opens in new tab), where several options are available. The first is a pledge of €52 or more for the SPINN CP.01 plate, while the second is a pledge of €80 or more for the plate and a SPINN heavy duty camera strap, with various choices of colour available.
The estimated delivery date is November 2019.
If you want to order additional or spare plates, you can do so by pledging a higher amount to the Kickstarter campaign.
The SPINN CP.01 camera plate is compatible with your existing camera strap.
