Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki has recently confirmed that the imaging company will be producing several innovative products in 2021. While we haven't seen any rumors about specific products, there are certainly plenty of avenues that Sigma could explore.
Sigma currently produces some of the best lenses on the market, including the recently released Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens for Sony E-mount cameras. This innovative lens was a surprisingly lightweight and compact piece of glass – especially for a lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.4.

If we take the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art as a potential indication of where Sigma could be focusing its energy, we may start to see more lightweight lenses with wide maximum apertures. Sigma are able to produce this kind of optical technology for mirrorless cameras because of the shorter flange distance. This tends to be more effective for wide angle lenses as opposed to longer telephoto lenses, so perhaps we'll be seeing some more wide angle glass this year. Personally, we'd like to see an update to the massive Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens.
We also wonder whether we might even be lucky enough to see a full-frame Sigma Foveon camera this year. The current flagship Foveon camera is the Sigma sd Quattro H, which uses an APS-H sized sensor. This has a crop factor of 1.3x, so a full frame version of this camera could be an exciting prospect, as users will be able to take advantage of Sigma's wide range of full frame glass.
No matter what products Sigma is planning for 2021, we're sure we won't be left disappointed by the imaging company's offerings.
