JIP will assume Olympus manufacturing, R&D and new product development

In a joint statement, Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) and Olympus made some key announcements on the future of the Olympus Imaging business, including the continued development of new products. However, the future of the Olympus brand name on these products was not addressed. 

Of key interest to existing Olympus users (as well as Panasonic, Blackmagic and other Micro Four Thirds systems), it was confirmed that JIP will honor the existing lens roadmap. This is obviously a huge deal, as Olympus makes many of the best Micro Four Thirds lenses.
