Canon has launched a Ramadan food photography campaign, Food for Cause, in aid of a philanthropic organization providing life-changing educational opportunities for children in the Africa and the Middle East.
For every original food photograph submitted to Food for Cause, Canon will make a donation to Dubai Cares – a member of the United Nations Department of Global Communications, whose goal is to raise desperately-needed funds for children’s education (particularly in the wake of the COVID crisis).

Canon's campaign combines two central themes of the holy month of Ramadan: food and philanthropy. The company will donate US$1 to Dubai Cares on behalf of everyone submitting an original Food for Cause photo from now until 21 May.
“The holy month of Ramadan is a very significant time of giving," says Mai Youssef of Canon Middle East and Canon Central and North Africa. "We are proud to actively support Dubai Cares during this period and encourage our customers, fans and ambassadors to get involved and make their contribution.
Simply share any original food-related image on the website before 21 May. It could be a traditional dish, a favorite meal or celebratory feast, it’s an opportunity to share your food story and give to children in extremely poorly-resourced areas.”

The Iraqi the education system has yet to recover from years of war, which saw thousands of schools severely damaged. Dubai Cares is rebuilding schools in Baghdad and Mosul to help 14,400 children get access to education.
