Leading photographic equipment retailer Adorama is continuing its association with internationally renowned photographer Nigel Barker for the increasingly popular Top Photographer Challenge (TPC) as it announces the latest theme for the contest.

In a recent episode on Adorama's IGTV feed Barker, also famous for his role as a judge on America's Next Top Model, revealed 'Action' is to be the next theme for photographers to tackle.

This will be the fourth installment of the Top Photographer Challenge, for which users are asked to upload their best photos matching a specific brief to their own Instagram accounts. The photographers then tag the images with @adorama and @nigelbarker and add the hashtags  #TPCslamdunk and #TopPhotographer.

With over 1 billion people with access to cameras in some shape or form, there has never been a greater interest in photography, and this challenge taps into that worldwide fascination. TPC is helping inspire and educate a new generation of photographers

Nigel Barker

For the current Action brief Barker explains that photographers should aim to capture more that a person or object in motion, but to capture a story behind the movement.

"A great action picture isn’t just about stopping motion, but about capturing the story behind that motion - how high they jumped, how fast they went and if possible what that felt like."

The contest is now open for entries and photographers have until October 11th to upload their images. Nigel Barker will announce the winning image live on the Adorama Instagram account at 12pm (EST) on October 16th.

Of the contest Mary-Irene Marek, Director of Content and Social Media for Adorama says "This series is a true reflection of modern-day photography in the age of social media. Through our Instagram community we are able to see the work of talented content creators and help provide inspiration for other creatives just getting started.”
