Panasonic has introduced two new PTZ cameras, the AW-UE200 and AW-UER200, which are the world's first with a new global shutter MOS sensor, a sensor of 1.2-inches and capable of 5K oversampling.
Panasonic highlights that the global shutter (which captured the whole frame at once, rather than scanning it line by line) will make the new PTZ cameras especially well suited to sports and action broadcasting, as the image will not be subject to motion distortion.
Another benefit is the ability to use the cameras with LED walls, so video can be captured of gigs with constantly changing lighting with a much more natural-looking output, or the cameras can be used in adaptable studios with LED walls.
Both boast impressive specs, with 22x zoom, the full range of which can be delivered as quickly as half a second – or slowed to 180 seconds. (The equivalent range in 35mm is 22.5–500mm).
The AW-UE200 can also turn at a rate of 400 degrees per second, and a roll mechanism with a range of –200° to +200°.
It also features simultaneous 16:9 and 9:16 output so streaming can be delivered
Setup is assisted using one-touch levelling, which can be invoked using the remote controller, making the camera easier to set up quickly on robotic mounts, or in difficult locations where you face angled ceilings.
The new cameras also support both the open IP standard that is SMPTE ST 2110 and the Dante® system popularly used for low-latency audio over networks.
The low-latency system is being shown at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) show next week, but will not be available to buy until February 2027 (for the AW-UE200W/K variants) and Q2 2027 for the AW-UER200W/K roll models.
In both cases, the IP Protocol variants will gain an extra ten in the name (e.g. AW-UE210W/K), while W denotes White and K means black.
