Street Photography International Awards 2018 goes on show in London

Leica's London gallery is showing a portfolio of images by the winner of the Street Photography International Awards 2018. The pictures by professional photographer Alan Burles will be shown at the Leica Studio Mayfair until 13 September.

Based in Battersea, Alan Burles has won a Leica Q camera, a Billingham Hadley bag and an Angelo Pelle strap – as well as the solo exhibition. 20 finalists will each display one photograph in the Leica Café. 

Street Photography International (SPi) is a collective of street photographers who formed with the aim of promoting the best street photography from around the world, whilst providing a platform for unrepresented photographers with talent. Today, the SPi Instagram account attracts 12 million views and over 60,000 submissions a month, and claims to be one of the biggest dedicated street photography resource in the world.

The exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 10am until 6pm at Leica Studio Mayfair, 27 Bruton Place, London, W1J 6NQ.

Chris George

Chris George has worked on Digital Camera World since its launch in 2017. He has been writing about photography, mobile phones, video making and technology for over 30 years – and has edited numerous magazines including PhotoPlus, N-Photo, Digital Camera, Video Camera, and Professional Photography. 


His first serious camera was the iconic Olympus OM10, which he won the title of Young Photographer of the Year - long before the advent of autofocus and memory cards. Today he uses a Nikon D800, a Fujifilm X-T1, a Sony A7, and his iPhone 8 Plus RED.
