Tile Stickers are petite Bluetooth-enabled devices that can be attached to your camera, phone, and other valuables, enabling them to be easily located. Previously available as tags that could be handily attached to key rings or similar (the Tile Mate (opens in new tab)and Tile Pro (opens in new tab)), the newest member of the Tile family is the Sticker.
As the name suggests, the Tile Sticker has a self-adhesive base that can be attached to pretty much anything with a hard surface – such as cameras. Weighing just 5g, the Tile Sticker measures 27x7.3mm, is waterproof and the non-replaceable batteries run for about three years.
A companion Tile app (opens in new tab) shows the last-tracked location of your items on a map, and tapping an icon plays a sound on the matching Tile’s built-in speaker. But, if you’re anything like us, it’s your phone that’s more likely to become misplaced, in which case pressing a button on the Tile will sound an alert on your phone.
Of course, the Tile needs to be within Bluetooth range to trigger the speaker – it has a decent 150ft (45m) range – but if your item becomes truly lost, you can anonymously recruit the entire Tile community to help find it; the app running on their phones sends location updates, letting you know where your Tile is.
If you’re in the habit of misplacing your camera kit, then the Tile Sticker could be just what you’re looking for. We attached ours to our lens cap so that we could not only quickly locate the camera, but also find which pocket of our bag we’d tucked the cap into while taking photos.
