The gallery-quality Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 can print professional A3 (11.7 x 16.5”) images in under 5 minutes

Canon has announced a new A3+ professional printer, the imagePROGRAF PRO-300, which replaces the existing Pixma PRO-10S and is both lighter and about 15% smaller, making it ideal for those looking to achieve quality A3+ prints from a compact unit.
Launching alongside the new Canon EOS R5, the imagePROGRAF PRO-300 can print the 35.4MP 8K Frame Grabs taken by the camera with superb color accuracy and detail. Indeed, the printer pairs with the technology in EOS cameras to unlock unique features; DPRAW Print and HDR Print both read the image data from Canon RAW files to reproduce accurate areas of sharpness and recover highlights.
The wireless printer is aimed at semi-pro and aspiring photographers looking to create quality prints for competitions, galleries, exhibitions or sales, as it is able to print at up to 4800 x 2400dpi – and can accommodate panoramic images up to custom lengths of 990.60mm. It integrates Canon’s L-COA PRO processor to handle large image data and calculate optimal ink droplet layout quickly, and produces A3 prints in under five minutes.
An exciting new feature is the ability to print borderless in all print modes, even on fine art paper. Canon claims that the 10 Lucia Pro inks that it uses will deliver an expanded color gamut for greater depth and colors in every print. It makes use of two black inks, Photo Black (PBK) and Matte Black (MBK), for deeper black tones than ever before, and is said to work exceptionally well when printing in monochrome.
To prevent clogged nozzles misfiring and producing banding, the new model is able to detect clogs and switch over to backup nozzles to stop harsh lines ruining your prints and wasting ink. It also has an Auto Skew Correction feature to detect and align media that may have been loaded in at an angle accidentally.
The ink cartridges are also shaken periodically to make sure that density levels remain consistent. The Chroma Optimizer can be used to lay down a clear ink on gloss or semi-glossy papers to minimize surface irregularities and reduce bronzing.

Canon is also releasing a new fine art paper to accompany the printer: Premium Fine Art Rough (FA-RG1) is a 310g/m² high quality cotton stock with a premium, three-dimensional feel.
The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 will be available in July, priced at $899.99 / £699.99.
