Black Friday 2025 sales in Australia: the best early camera deals to check out ahead of November 28
Beat the Black Friday rush and take a look at the discounts currently available on a wide array of cameras this November
We're just days away from most Aussie retailers kicking off their Black Friday 2025 sales. Amazon AU has already announced its sale will start on November 18, so expect at least a few other major retailers to follow suit.
Otherwise, Black Friday this year is on November 28 and that means Cyber Monday falls on December 1. This four-day period is the biggest shopping event of the calendar year, outperforming even Boxing Day sales in Australia these days.
Once Black Friday deals are live, most camera retailers won't change their offers over the month of November. So if you see a good camera or lens deal and the price is in your budget, I would recommend you get it before stocks run out.
And I'll be on hand to help. I've been covering Black Friday sales in Australia for nine years now, so I know what kind of a discount is worth highlighting. You might see a 30% discount on an old model, which isn't a bad offer, but if you're after an upgraded model, even a 20% discount might well be justified. I'll help you analyse it all and make the best possible buying decision – after all, a camera or a lens is a hefty investment, one you want to think about before you splurge.
Whether you want to upgrade to one of the best mirrorless cameras, invest in a brand-new action camera or you're looking for a shiny new telephoto lens, Black Friday is a great time to snap up a new kit or update your existing one. And these deals could be made even better as this is when most manufacturers also offer their summer cashbacks.
Right now, though, Amazon is your best source for the current cheapest prices on select models, and I've picked some of the best options for you below. And where a competing retailer has a similar price, I've noted that as well.
The camera retailers I'll be keeping my eye on through November are listed below.
Top Australian retailers
- Amazon: save on all kinds of photography gear
- Camera House: save on cameras, lenses, tripods, bags and more
- CameraPro: great bargains on cameras and lenses
- CR Kennedy: shop Ricoh, Pentax, Leica and more
- Diamonds Camera: save on all brands, including Leica
- eBay Australia: shop various resellers for cameras and accessories
- JB Hi-Fi: save on select popular camera and drone models

- Ryda Dot Com: cameras, lenses, even wearables on sale

While only the black colour variant gets this 20% discount, it was AU$469 last month. So if you're tempted by this camera, consider waiting for the price to drop further. Still, it's a great option for new content creators on a tight budget, and its little kickstand makes it perfect for different angles. Note, however, it struggles a little in low light.

Featuring an 18MP 1/2.3-inch sensor, a USB-C port for charging and a 2,360K-dot OLED EVF that's better than before, and an upgraded rear LCD with 1,840K dots resolution, this is a good bridge camera. You also get 60x optical zoom via its 20-200mm fixed lens, with the handling of a DSLR and the simplicity of use of a point-and-shoot. I expect this price to drop further soon, so it would be great if you can hold off a bit.

The R100 is Canon's most affordable RF-mount camera and this discount matches the Prime Big Deal Days price from October. It's a very basic entry-level camera, which misses out on an articulating rear screen, but it has everything else a new photographer would need. 4K/24p video (cropped), good autofocus performance and an excellent 24.1MP sensor will help you hone your skills.

Also called the Fujifilm X Half, this film camera-inspired digital version is doing to photography what vinyl did to music. Not only did it become a bestseller soon after it launched this year, it won awards too. If you've been keen on film photography but don't have the cashflow to keep buying film rolls, the Charcoal colour variant is cheapest on Amazon right now, although the other three colours also get a price cut, just not as good.

This silver edition of this lovely MFT camera was AU$50 cheaper on Amazon in October, but this is still a good price on the black kit. This portable and powerful camera has a 20MP sensor that's stabilised, excellent autofocus, and boasts a flip-down monitor. It would be an excellent entry-level travel camera. Plus, there's no lack of lenses, with any MFT optic from any brand fitting the body, although you get a kit lens in the box here to get you started.

This is closer to a AU$280 discount than the small AU$59.93 as shown on Amazon as the street price of this kit is AU$1,399. This entry-level Canon is quite impressive – it pairs a 24.2MP sensor with the powerful Digic X processor and uses Canon's trusty Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology for fast and reliable autofocus. 4K/30p uncropped video is on board, and burst speed tops out at 15fps. The flip-out touchscreen and compact RF-S lens make it ideal for vlogging and hybrid shooting.

It was AU$1,049 during October's Prime Day sale, so I would recommend you hold off a little but it's still a fab compact camera to get at this price. Launched in February this year, it features a larger-than-standard 22.3MP 1.4-inch sensor that boasts Canon's trusty Dual Pixel CMOS II autofocus with face and eye detection for humans, cats and dogs. It also has an integrated fan and plenty of grunt under the hood.

In March this year, Canon released a camera no one was expecting, but the R50 V is the video edition of the affordable EOS R50 entry-level camera. And in our R50 vs R50 V showdown, it came up trumps as the better camera! Go figure! So if you're after an affordable video shooter, here's a small discount to consider on a single-lens kit.

Finally giving its rangefinder cameras better ergonomics, Fujifilm has done really well with the X-E5. And that's not the only new design feature here – a discreet Film Simulation dial and new front lever go a long way in making this rangefinder unique. Expect image quality to rival the X100VI. It's not cheap, but discounts help. On Amazon, the black body is cheaper by AU$40, but the silver variant is discounted too via the same listing.

The Nikon Z6 III is a versatile full-frame mirrorless camera that delivers superb image quality, lightning-fast autofocus, and impressive 6K video recording – making it ideal for both photographers and hybrid creators. Note, however, that this offer is being shipped and sold by a third-party reseller on Amazon and may not be Australian stock.

It's not a huge discount but I can't help but list this workhorse here for professional content creators. The Panasonic Lumix S1RII is a 44.3MP full-frame powerhouse that blends exquisite detail with confident Phase Hybrid AF and robust, shoot-all-day ergonomics. And a saving of over AU$400 should never be scoffed at.
When will Black Friday camera deals in 2025 start?
This year, the official Black Friday sale period is from November 28 through to Monday, December 1, 2025 (Cyber Monday), and some of the best camera deals won't be available after that date. However, Black Friday camera deals in Australia start about two weeks ahead of that date, so start checking retailers around November 17.
While most camera retailers usually stick with their best offers during the three week period that includes the actual sale, some can drop the prices further during Cyber Weekend proper, so you might want to wait till November 28 to see how much you can actually save.
When is Black Friday 2025?
As we've just mentioned, Black Friday this year falls on Friday, November 28. That means Cyber Monday will be on December 1.
That's still a few weeks away, giving you plenty of time to figure out what you'd like to get – a new camera for beginners, the best instant camera perhaps, or just a lens or two. You'll get nearly two weeks of the best prices on photography gear, but don't dally as stocks may be low and you could miss out.
Where to find Black Friday camera deals
Pretty much every Aussie retailer, whether a specialist camera store or a more general tech store, will be offering great discounts during Black Friday. Many of them will even price match or try and outdo the competition, so you may get lucky pitting one retailer against the other to bag the best bargain.
Chances are you won’t need to leave your home to snag a great Black Friday offer. Most in-store discounts will be offered online by the major retailers, so all you’ll need to do is keep your credit card handy and shop from your couch.
Before that, though, we’d recommend you have your shopping list ready and figure out what your budget is. Doing some research on prices now will help you determine whether a Black Friday offer is actually worth it or not when the sale finally begins.
Black Friday 2025: Shopping tips
Is Black Friday the best time to buy a camera?
As a general rule, Black Friday is a great time to buy a new camera, but not every deal is as good as it may seem initially – which is where we come in.
In some cases, retailers do mark up the prices of cameras and camera bundles in the run up to Black Friday, in order to offer a seemingly bigger discount during the run of the actual event itself. However, this doesn't necessarily make them a bad buy though as, on many occasions, their prices still drop to mouth-watering record lows. But in the grand scheme of things, the percentage saving may not be quite as large as advertised.
However, to combat these situations, we'll only highlight the actual saving of any Black Friday deal based on the camera's recent price history, and we will make sure it's genuinely a good deal before placing it in this hub. This isn't necessarily the norm, and many cameras do simply drop to their lowest-ever price for a brief period over Black Friday.
How to find the best camera deals
Of course, the best Black Friday deals will be on this page as soon as they launch. We’ll bring you the top bargains from all the best retailers when the discounts start rolling in on and before Black Friday. But there are a lot of different cameras to choose from, and it can get overwhelming at times, especially for photography beginners. We recommend making the most of our extensive camera knowledge to make sure you buy the right bit of kit for you come Black Friday.
If you're new to photography, a good grounding point is to start with our best camera for beginners guide. Once you've got a feel for which type of camera might suit your needs, check out our separate guides on the best camera for photography, the best mirrorless camera, or the best Micro Four Thirds camera, and if you want to take advantage of the lowering prices of DSLRs, check out our best DSLR guide – we've got the latest advice on them all.
Can I get cashback on Black Friday camera deals?
Typically, most camera brands don't offer cashbacks during November. Instead, your debit or credit card company might. It's worth looking into, but you can be sure that retailers will price match if you see a lower offer on a particular product elsewhere.
Another interesting option to consider is layby. Some retailers will allow you to select your gear during Black Friday at the discounted prices, pay a small deposit and then pick it all up later when you pay the full amount. This is advantageous when something is out of stock too and you've been assured of incoming stock. DCW's APAC Managing Editor tried this back in 2018, when she ordered a camera, two lenses (one of which was out of stock) and filters during the Black Friday sale then, but paid the full amount and picked up the entire kit only in mid-December.
