Viltrox has a further five new lenses due shortly, increasing its rapidly-expanding lens line-up. The new lenses include the:

  • Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.4 Pro (full-frame, E-mount & L-mount)
  • Viltrox AF 18mm f/1.2 Pro APS-C (E-mount & L-mount)
  • Viltrox AF 40mm f/1.2 Pro APS-C (E-mount & L-mount)
  • Two new Air lenses

As the lenses are yet to be officially announced, we don't yet know many specifications. They are however on display at the BIRTV2026 show in Beijing, which takes place August 19-22.

Photorumors.com has several hands-on photos of the AF 35mm f/1.4 Pro, as well as a few details about it. The lens is said to have a 77mm filter thread, a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters, VCM (voice coil motor) focusing, and a metal barrel.

As for the 18mm and 40mm lenses; I'd fully expect E-mount variants, but I’m surprised to see that L-mount versions are supposedly due to follow at a later date. This seems a strange mount option, given both are APS-C lenses. There are no new APS-C L-mount cameras, and the few that were produced such as the Leica CL and TL have now been discontinued.

There is a faint possibility that Viltrox might actually be ahead of the game here though. There has been a recent rumor that Panasonic could ditch the Micro Four Thirds sensor format in favour of APS-C. Assuming it would stick with the L mount, then APS-C L-mount lenses would suddenly be in demand.

Back to Viltox though and we can likely expect full details, including pricing and availability of its five new lenses in a matter of days.
