There's nothing better than a good meal - especially if it doubles as a photographic subject beforehand. Food photography is experiencing a monumental boom at the moment, with bloggers and Instagrammers launching the genre into the digital stratosphere. Riding the momentum, and giving photographers the chance to hone their skills, the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2020 is now open for entries.

The Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year enjoyed a successful year with their 2019 competition, with impressive entries from 77 different countries. According to the official press release, the competition "shines a light on the best photography and film shorts showing food in its every setting in cultures across the world. Stunning shots of cooking, harvesting, farming, eating celebrating and sometimes just surviving - these pictures and films tell stories that move, delight, inform and entertain".

The 2020 competition's judging panel will be chaired by legendary food photographer David Loftus and will include new names such as Chris Dee, Food and Home Director, Harrods, Tori Katherman, Director of Photography, Food&Wine, NYC, Anthea Loucas Bosha, CEO, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and Joshua Lustig, Deputy Picture Editor, Financial Times Weekend Magazine.

Jianhui Liao from China won the top prize of £5,000 last year, receiving a cheque at the Champagne Taittinger Awards Evening at the Mall Galleries, London. He also saw his winning shot in the press across the world, including BBC News Online, China Daily, The Guardian, The Times and The Telegraph.

Peter Durose, who heads up Pink Lady in the UK, says, "We are delighted to be headline sponsor again of these prestigious awards. Our brand is all about excellence and to act as a global patrol of the arts in this way to such an important art form is very meaningful for us."
