Panasonic puts point-and-shoot power in the palm of your hand or your pocket, with the Lumix ZS99 / TZ99 (review) – an update of the company's trusty ZS100 / TZ100 compact camera from a few years ago.

While its small 1/2.3-inch sensor does limit the scope of its image quality, this camera nonetheless delivers very solid 20.3MP photographs (with the option for RAW capture) and 4K 30p or FullHD 60p video. It also offers high-speed video up to 240p, if you ratchet down to 640x480.

The headline feature of the ZS99 / TZ99 is the mammoth 24-720mm equivalent zoom lens, optically engineered by Leica. This gives you a truly ridiculous amount of reach, covering wide-angle landscape vistas all the way to telephoto reach for capturing faraway subjects.

Most of my friends were scouring the Cyber Monday camera deals for big savings on mirrorless cameras and lenses. Me? I was looking for money off Polaroid film, which is famously expensive and rarely receives a discount.

Well, Cyber Monday came good – Amazon is offering 15% off a multi-pack of i-Type Color Film along with 10% off Go Color Film!

I've been shooting Polaroids for decades. As long as I can remember, they've always been about a buck per exposure (my old photography mentor used to tell a joke that it always cost him $1 and a new shirt whenever he'd test a lighting setup – $1 for the Polaroid, and a new shirt because he'd put the photo under his armpit to expose, which would decay the fabric).

So I'm super grateful to see Polaroid's color film discounted, both for the full-size i-Type format and the pint-sized Go format.

It's easy to be sniffy about 15% and 10% discounts on multi-packs of film, which only amounts to around 7 or 8 bucks. But if you shoot Polaroids regularly, you know that every penny saved on every shot you take is definitely worth having.

I must admit, even as someone who uses the smallest memory cards possible in my digital cameras to limit how much I shoot (I still have a 2GB card in one body!) I'm still wary about shooting too many Polaroids, because I'm conscious that every exposure doesn't just cost money – it also depletes one of my precious eight shots per pack.

So any saving on packs of film is very much appreciated, especially for the Polaroid Go – where film rarely receives a discount. My advice is to pick up at least two of the above bundles of whatever type of film you need, and stick them straight in the fridge. You're much better off buying (and saving) in bulk than running out and buying single packs of film!

I absolutely love the Canon EOS R50 (review). It's so compact that you can keep it in a sling bag on your shoulder, toss it in a handbag, your hand luggage or your glove compartment. Point being, it's small enough to be a take-anywhere camera that's always by your side.

While it's very compact, it's also highly capable. Its 24.2MP sensor captures glorious photographs – I've used this camera to shoot commissions and magazine work, and the results are just glorious. It can even shoot at 15fps, meaning you can shoot fast action with it as well.

Instant cameras are fantastic options for teaching kids a bit of patience and history in one. A word of caution though, these instant cameras below stop working once you run out of film (unlike the digital hybrid Instax Mini Evo above). Expect to periodically spend some money on more film.

I test lots of memory cards, and to be honest, they're not exactly exciting. But there is one card I've reviewed that's truly exceptional: Lexar's Armor SDXC card

Where many SD cards promise some level of durability, the Armor card is on an entirely different level. Thanks to its stainless steel construction, it claims to be 37x stronger than a regular plastic-bodied card, while also being IP68 dust- and water-resistant, plus magnet-, static-, X-Ray-, UV- and temperature-resistant. Oh, and it'll even survive a drop from up to 16.5 feet!

This kind of bragging is common in tech marketing, but I've personally put Lexar's toughness claims to the test and can report that this is not hyperbole: the Armor SD card really is shockingly strong. It absolutely will not bend. It's as waterproof as you could ever reasonably need it to be. Drops onto concrete will hardly mark it. Heck, I actually had to drive my car over the card to kill it, and even then the exterior still looked almost pristine.

I reviewed the Lexar Armor Gold SD card, whereas this Amazon Cyber Monday deal is for the Armor Silver version. In terms of toughness, Gold and Silver are identical. Even the maximum write speed is the same, at 280MB/s. The only difference between the Silver card and the Gold card I tested is write speed, with Silver being capable of up to 160MB/s write speed, while Gold can manage up to 205MB/s.

But where a 256GB Armor Gold card will currently set you back around $120, the Silver version can now be had for just $84.49 with a 23% Cyber Monday discount.

Sure, most people will probably never subject an SD card to the kind of abuse that a Lexar Armor card can withstand. But when I'm capturing fleeting moments that may never be repeated, I love the reassurance that these precious shots are being stored on a memory card that's practically unbreakable.

Kodak cameras are making a comeback – long after the public though the brand was killed off by the death of film photography and the arrival of digital imaging.

Kodak's revival has been so strong that earlier this year, it was even the biggest selling camera brand in Japan!

The secret to the success is tied to the fact that simple point-and-shoot cameras have also been making a big comeback in the last year or so – and this is what Kodak has been specializing in. As such, Kodak has been one of the few brands that could meet the demand from those who wanted to turn their back on their smartphone cameras – or wanted a fun photo-taking device for parties and such.

The point-and-shoot camera is where Kodak first made its name over one hundred years ago - "You press the shutter, and we do the rest", George Eastman told the world. And the yellow giant is once again using the point-and-shoot approach to rebuild its name.

Nowadays, most of Kodak's best-selling models are low-cost digital ones - but they do sitll make some simple film cameras too. These five models are probably the ones that are popularizing the Kodak name to a new generation of photographers (and some of them are currently discounted for the Black Friday sales).

Older cameras tend to have the steepest discounts, but I just spotted a lowest-ever price on a new compact retro mirrorless that even beats Amazon's price. The OM System OM-3 is a five-star rated mirrorless camera that’s currently at its lowest-ever price on Amazon, but Adorama has a hidden coupon that takes an additional $105 off the kit or $90 off the body-only sale price.

The OM System OM-3 is a retro yet small mirrorless that feels very much like a continuation of the popular Olympus PEN series. Reviewer James Artius – who is an OM System shooter himself – gave the camera five stars, calling it the “perfect camera for me” thanks to its a compact retro design mixed with flagship technology on the inside.

According to Amazon price trackers, the OM System OM-3 is at its lowest-ever price right now at $2,099 paired with a 12-24mm kit lens or $1,799 body-only. But, photo specialty store Adorama matches that sale price but adds a hidden automatic coupon on top of that. The hidden coupon is for $90 off the body only, making it $1,709, or $105 on the kit, making it $1,994 after both discounts are applied.

The reason to opt for the OM System OM-3 is for its mix of a compact, retro design with the high-end features packed inside. The OM-3 has a classic SLR-style look with film-like top dials and a weather-sealed metal construction. But, packed inside is some of the same tech that’s in the brand’s OM-1 Mark II flagship, including fast autofocus, 50 fps bursts, and computational photography.

While the OM-3 packs in high-end tech in a gorgeous body, it’s a Micro Four Thirds camera that has just 20.4MP without using the high-res mode. The camera also only has a single card slot and lacks a joystick and grip. Still, the OM-3 carries enough features to secure a five-star review rating and a hard-earned spot on the list of the best retro cameras.

Leica is a camera brand synonymous with luxury, and as such, discounts on cameras with the iconic red circle logo are a rarity. Not only has a Leica mirrorless kit dropped by more than $1,000 during Cyber Monday sales, but it’s even a newer model and the model that reviewers say “might just be the best mirrorless camera that Leica has ever made.”

The Leica SL3-S is a fast 30fps burst, open gate, Leica mirrorless. Introduced near the start of 2025, the SL3-S is a little sibling to the SL-3 that drops the resolution on the full-frame sensor to 24MP, but trades the lower resolution for faster performance and even open gate video recording.

Sales on Leica gear are rare – though not completely nonexistent – and right now the SL3-S paired with the Vario-Elmarit-SL 28-70mm f/2.8 lens is $1,060 off in the US. That’s a 14 percent discount off the list price and makes a lens that retails for $1,890 cost $830 on top of the body-only price.

I used the Leica 28-70mm f/2.8 lens during a trip to New York, and the lens delivers excellent quality yet is far more compact than Leica's similar 24-70mm f/2.8.

The Leica SL3-S feels every bit a Leica – and is IP54 weather-sealed to boot. Reviewer James Artaius described the SL3-S as an “artisan product that oozes quality.” While the camera may not have the 60MP of the original SL3, it makes up for that with 30fps burst shooting and 6K open gate video.

While the discount on a high-end Leica is rare, the SL3-S still isn’t impulse-buy-cheap. Cameras like the Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX have several similarities for a much lower price point, but the SL3-S does boast a better dynamic range and better noise reduction. Leica cameras are also known for holding their value over the years and tend to still sell for nice sums when used.

While the $1,060 discount on the SL3-S kit is the best Leica discount that I’ve seen during the holiday sales, it’s not Leica’s only discount running. Leica is also bundling a free Oberwerth Edward M bag and accessories with the Leica M11 series.

Perhaps more than any other variable, including your camera and lens, lighting can make or break an image. And while natural light is all well and good, for truly creative photography and videography you simply need supplemental illumination.

I've used a lot of lights over the years, both for commercial shoots and teaching lighting to photographers. But the best, most adaptable light I've ever used is the Rotolight Aeos 2 Pro.

And the quality of both the light and the gels is gorgeous. As you can see from my sample photographs, the colors are punchy and vivid while the light remains soft rather than harsh and overpowering. And obviously, because it's constant light, it's perfect for photo and video in equal measure.

You get what you pay for with lighting, but at half price you really are getting so much more than you bargained for.

I can't quite believe that there are good deals around on DJI drones. These have been in short supply this year - and there is still debate about whether they will no longer be available at all next year.

Hey, it’s Mike here, taking over the live blog from James. If there’s one thing I like almost as much as cameras, it’s Lego. So, when you combine the two, I’m in nerdvana! I think the DJI Osmo 360 might be my favorite Cyber Monday camera deal of 2025. Where else can you save a mahoosive 35% on a camera that was only released a few months ago? That’s right, this premium action camera was officially released at the end of July, with an RRP of $549.99, and now you can pick it up at Amazon for just $357.49!

I went to a gig last night and watched the resident photographer filming the action with a smartphone. An ever-increasing number of content creators are turning to their phones and achieving very high-quality results. If you’ve bought a new phone this Cyber Monday and want to up the video camera’s production value, then a gimbal is a great choice.

Sorry, I was supposed to ease you in, not start things off with a certified dinger. That’s an incredible deal! Think about it, a full-frame mirrorless camera for $749… Adorama's fired that one outta the park.

It would appear that the proposed ban on DJI products (scheduled to come into force on December 23) has spawned some very good deals on DJI products. And I’ve just spotted such an offer on the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, which has dropped to $2,209 on Amazon. That’s a big saving of $490.

But if north of $2K is too much to spend on a drone, I've also included a fantastic deal on the DJI Mini 4K. At $239 at Amazon, this is a fantastic first drone for accident-prone beginner pilots, so you can fly without fear of downing $2,000-worth of kit.

I’ve had the pleasure of using this lens myself, and it’s a fantastic everyday, one-and-done lens, thanks to that extremely usable 24-200mm zoom range (36-300mm on a DX Nikon camera). As such, you can shoot a huge range of genres on this gem of a lens, from landscapes to wildlife, and you'll compromise on quality much less than you might think.

Retro compact cameras are expensive. One of my favorite hacks to get something compact and retro on a budget is to look at compact mirrorless cameras paired with a pancake lens. One of my favorite budget mirrorless cameras that fits the bill is on sale for about $700 right now with a pancake kit lens: the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV.

My favorite photo printer is down to its lowest-ever price! The Epson ET-8550 is a printer that balances price and quality, costing less than wide-format printers but still delivering pro-quality prints at home. You can read more about why it's my favorite printer deal here.

The Nikon Z6 III is an epic camera all around, from its full-frame sensor to its blistering performance. But what makes the Z6 III even more versatile is a lens that can also do it all. That's why out of all the Z6 III bundles, the one with the 24-120mm f/4 lens has caught my eye.

When I think Black Friday and Cyber Monday, cheap primes are one of the things that come to mind. The already cheap Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.7 has now fallen to $143.20 at B&H Photo, from $179. It’s available in Sony E, Fujifilm X, and Nikon Z mounts, all for the same great price.

Cheap lenses are a fantastic way for beginner photographers to experiment with different focal lengths, without having to break the bank. And in recent years, cheap lenses have come a long way. Viltrox lenses are especially known for delivering robust AF and image quality at prices that are hard to beat.

I told Digital Camera World content director, Chris George, I wouldn't sneak another Lego set onto the Cyber Monday live hub, but... That was before I found this excellent little stocking stuffer for just $15.95 at Amazon! I own the Lego Creator 3-in-1 Retro Camera, and I can tell you that it’s one of the best small sets Lego has ever produced.

The retro camera that looks like an old Nikon, Pentax, and Olympus analog SLR is a little smaller than a 1:1 ratio, and features a couple of rolls of film that you can actually load. Cleverly, this 3-in-1 kit features two extra builds, a television and a camcorder, so you can dismantle it and turn it into something else. The television isn’t great, but the camcorder is so neat, I’m tempted to pick up a second kit so I can keep the camcorder and retro camera on my shelf.

I always think, this’ll be the last Black Friday we’ll see the Nikon D850 in the Nikon line-up. Black Friday comes and goes, and when it returns, the Nikon D850 is still there, ever the stalwart in Nikon’s roster of cameras. I’m not sure what to say about this imaging megalith that hasn’t already been said before. In my mind, it’s the best DSLR ever made. Period.

And while I won’t be so foolish as to say this might be the last Cyber Monday you’ll get to capitalize on a stunning Nikon D850 deal, there are still people out there who will jump at this $1,996.95 B&H Photo deal. Now, if I’m being entirely honest, I’d advise most photographers to invest in one of the best mirrorless cameras at this stage. But there’s still a very good reason why you might opt for a Nikon DSLR, and that’s how affordable the old F-mount lenses are on the used market. And they’re only getting cheaper.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: you could still carve out a formidable pro-photography career with a Nikon D850. And although I’ve since sold mine on to fund a Nikon Z8, I don’t think the imagery my Z8 spits out is far superior. Heck, the romantic in me likes to think the D850’s image files just edge it.

Paper jams, weird colors, wonky connectivity – if there’s a piece of tech that’s highest on my Most Frustrating list, it’s printers. That’s exaggerated by the fact that, as a professional photographer, I need something that prints high-quality images with accurate colors. My search for a high-quality printer that doesn’t take up too much office space, however, ended when I found the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 – and it just dropped to the lowest price I've ever seen.

What first caught my eye about the Epson EcoTank ET-8550, besides the fact that it’s a printer that’s meant for artists and photographers, is the EcoTank capacity. Ink isn’t cheap, but the ET-8550 uses refillable ink cartridges, and the bottles that are included with the printer actually last quite a while.

While ink is why I wanted to try the ET-8550, print quality is why it has remained in my office for years. Paired with pro-quality printer paper, I get lab-quality results in sizes up to 13x19 inches. I’m a color snob, and I’m always pleased at how closely the colors on the prints match my edits on the screen.

During Cyber Monday, the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 has dropped to $499 in the US and £491 with cashback in the UK. According to US price tracker camelcamelcamel.com, that’s the lowest US price yet for this printer, while the UK price is also the lowest that I've seen.

The printer is also discounted in the UK, where the price has dropped to £491 when you include a cashback deal.

But the memes are on to something – printers are often frustrating. Between the paper jams and connectivity issues, printers can be a persnickety bunch. I’ve had relatively few issues with the ET-8550, however. If I haven’t printed in a while, I’ll get some lines on my prints – but all I have to do is run a cleaning cycle (or two) using the troubleshooting on the touchscreen, and then I’m back in business.

Speaking of business, the ET-8550 has a scanner too, so I can scan old photos or make copies. It’s also more than capable of doubling as my office printer for printing out documents, like shipping labels and contracts.

I often recommend the ET-8500 as a more affordable alternative to the ET-8550, a nearly identical printer except for the fact that it only prints up to 8.5x11 inches instead of 13x19. But, the Cyber Monday deal actually makes the better ET-8550 only around $50- more than the option that only prints 8.5x11, so there's a clear winner here. (In the UK, the smaller ET-8500 is only about £32 less, so I still recommend the ET-8550 instead).

I was lucky enough to go to the launch of the Fujifilm X-H2S – so it has been a camera that holds a special place in my heart. So it was great to spot that this hybrid mirrorless camera has now dropped to its best price this year - costing  £1,799 at Clifton Cameras. That's a saving of £500 on the recommended retail price - and £200 less than at Amazon, and some other well-known camera stores.

I love that, unlike most other Fujifilm models, you get an information screen on the top plate of the camera. But it is its high-speed shooting specification that are the big appeal. It has a top motordrive speed for stills of 40fps, with a 40MP resolution. And for video you get open gate shooting with a sensor scan time of just 1/80sec to minimize rolling shutter.

The X-H2S is the more expensive sibling to the X-H2 - so it can be confusing to decide whether the pricier version is the right one for you. The two cameras look and handle the same, but as you can read in our exhaustive Fujifilm X-H2 vs X-H2S comparison there are some serious, if subtle, differences under the hood. 

But the easy way, perhaps, to pick the two cameras apart is to think of the X-H2S for speed, and the X-H2 is designed for resolution. But as the H in the name might imply - both of the 2022 X-H models are hybrid cameras - designed for those that need high-performance video as well as great stills shooting.

Fujifilm itself talks about the X-H2S appealing to those who need the faster autofocus - so those shooting sport, aircraft, or wildlife say. And that the X-H2's higher resolution, means it is more attractive to commercial, product and landscape shooters.

I've spent the past week knee-deep in searches and promo pages to round up the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday camera deals. As a result, there have been far too many Amazon tabs open in my browser for far too long.

Well, Amazon noticed. And it was obviously very confused. You know how Amazon recommends you more stuff, based on the stuff you've been looking at? Well, I've been looking at such a bizarre and non-sequitur range of camera gear that clearly Amazon thinks I will buy any old crap.

DVDs and instruction manuals for decade-old DSLRs. Editing software on a Windows 98 CD-ROM. A lime green American Idol camera.

I thought I'd seen some junk on the depths of Amazon before, but this took the back alley bric-a-brac to all new levels. Here are the "highlights" of the crap that Amazon recommended to me while I was trying to be a good person and find deals to save you money…

American Idol Digital Camera ($7)

If you've ever wanted a lime green digital camera on a keychain with a tiny American Idol logo on it, this is the camera for you. There's no indication of its specs, though it promises to be able to take stills and video, as well as act as a webcam.

The highlight here is ostensibly the included software that enables you to "put yourself onto the American Idol stage"… but you'll need a Windows XP computer to run said software – or to download your images, as there's no memory card on this camera. Which means, there's no other way to get your files off it.

The description suggests that you "throw it in your pocket and go". I suggest that you throw it in the trash and forget this ever happened.

Nikon School DVD: Fast, Fun & Easy Great Digital Pictures ($6.96)

How quaint, Amazon is recommending me a DVD! And I say that as someone who still buys physical media (so maybe I brought this recommendation on myself). However, perhaps the only thing quainter than Amazon recommending a DVD in 2024 is that it's recommending a DVD designed for the Nikon D40 / D40X, which was launched in 2006.

So, what can I expect from this digital versatile disc for a camera that's approaching two decades old? Well, I'll get 35 minutes of knowledge bombs from National Geographic Traveler photographer Bob Krist (in 16x9 widescreen, no less).

"Bob will lead you through a fun day of shooting while explaining the advantages of the various Digital Vari-Program Modes," threatens the description. Who knew that insomnia could be cured in 35 minutes.

ArcSoft Camera Suite 1.3 ($5.98)

At last, I can say goodbye to my Adobe subscription! Gone are the days of paying through the nose for Creative Cloud – for just six bucks, I can get ArcSoft PhotoImpression and ArcSoft VideoImpression on one handy CD-ROM.

There's a catch, though. Remember how you needed Windows XP to run the software for that American Idol camera? Well, that's positively futuristic compared to this – because ArcSoft Camera Suite 1.3 requires Windows 98SE / Me / 2000. Or Macintosh 9 / X if you're one of those strange people who owns an Apple Macintosh computer.

No time to worry about that, though – Amazon warns me in bold letters that there's "Only 1 left in stock – order soon"…

Nikon D700 User's Manual ($22.99)

Who even knew that Amazon sold camera manuals? Is this why the last camera I bought had the manual missing from the box? Come to think of it, who even knew that camera manuals were worth so much… I should dig all of mine out and make a nice chunk of change!

Still, I've never owned a Nikon D700 (a rather fine full-frame professional DSLR camera that came out in 2008), so maybe I should pick up the manual to see what I was missing out on.

The question is, do I pay $23 bucks for this paper manual, or download the PDF from Nikon for free? Hmm. Well, I did say that I still collect physical media…

Kenko Digital Mini Camera 9300 ($20.95)

Far and away the most intriguing thing Amazon tried to get me to buy was this James Bond-looking watch camera – which I would no doubt have gone bananas over as a kid, though I'm not quite as enamored with its 0.3MP resolution and 320 x 240 video today.

In true 007 fashion, it looks like there's a quick release mechanism to deploy the camera from the wrist strap, take a couple of covert shots and then put it back before you're noticed by SPECTRE or Smirnoff or whoever your arch nemesis is.

Unlike the wretched American Idol camera, this one comes with a USB cable – so you may well be able to transfer your files without having to install ancient software that requires a decades-old operating system. The only thing I can't figure out is that it somehow requires three AAA batteries. How big is this thing?

Olympus Silca-5S Silica Gel ($13.56)

You know sometimes when you buy an expensive piece of electronic equipment, it comes with a little cloth or paper packet of silica gel? Most people dump those straight in the trash. Other people apparently pay 13 bucks to buy them from Olympus / OM System.

It looks like this is intended for owners of underwater camera housings or waterproof cameras – and since I was looking at deals on the latter, I guess this is how the Amazon algorithm decided that I need a bag of silica sachets.

In case you're curious, these packets of dessicant are drying agents used to prevent moisture – so they're obviously ideal for kit that's designed to be used in water. However, as someone who always keeps his packets of silica gel, this is 13 bucks that Amazon won't be getting from me.

Minolta Background Priority Card ($12.95)

In fairness, this thing is actually pretty fascinating. Back in 1988, Minolta introduced the Maxxum 7000i – an innovative film SLR that introduced the concept of Creative Expansion Cards, which could be inserted into the camera to power special shooting functions.

Some of these were quite clever, such as the Exposure Bracketing and Intervalometer cards, along with truly creative cards like Fantasy that shifted focus during exposure to combine a misty soft focus effect with zoom-like effect.

This Background Priority card is a little less interesting, enabling the camera to maintain background sharpness if the focal length or distance changes. However, this Expansion Card feature is pretty ingenious for a camera from 1988 – and makes me miss the glory days of Minolta.

With such a whirlwind of discounts since Black Friday season started, I'm really interested to see what people are actually buying as the Cyber Monday camera deals hit full swing.

I'm looking at the Amazon mirrorless sales chart, but it should be noted that the Kodak FZ45 and Kodak FZ55 are both way ahead of everything else in terms of sales – people really can't get enough of these mediocre compacts, for whatever reason.

That aside, the key takeaway here is that Sony is absolutely dominating, with four of the top five sellers. And what's really interesting to me is that the top to cameras are the Sony ZV-E10 and ZV-1 – two of the best cameras for vlogging.

Is this because both cameras are relatively affordable, or because people are getting into content creation at an even faster rate than we thought?

Anyway, here's the full top five:

It's times like this that it really hits home just how much of the market Nikon has lost to everyone else; Nikon doesn't even crack the top 30 (the Nikon Z30 comes in at 31), while both Fujifilm (at 23 with the X-M5) and Panasonic (with the Lumix S5 II at 30) managed to make it.

Remember, kids: just because someone on the internet says a camera is terrible and that Canon doesn't know what it's doing, doesn't make it so. Chances are that Canon knows the market pretty well.

Looking at the top 20 sellers, 11 are Canon products and 8 are Sony (with the other one being a nasty little off-brand camera).

The next big takeaway is that all the manufacturers who abandoned the entry-level segment are losing out, because both the Canon EOS R100 and R50 – two of the best cameras for beginners – are selling like hand over fist.

Lastly, it's interesting to note that all but one of the top five cameras are super-compact APS-C bodies (although there are three more full frame bodies when you look to the top ten, with the Canon EOS R6 Mark II in sixth, EOS R8 in seventh, and the Sony A7 IV in ninth).

There are some cameras that, if someone sees you using them, they know you're a photographer who means business. This is one of those cameras – and it's one of the best Cyber Monday camera deals I've seen, being discounted by £300.

The mighty Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome is just £1,949 right now. This camera spends a lot of time on the backorder list, so it won't be around at this price for long!

One of the best cameras for black-and-white photography, the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome only shoots mono images – making it the most hardcore DSLR camera you can buy.

Its 25.73MP APS-C monochrome sensor has been fine-tuned to deliver black-and-white images with levels of rich gradation and extra-fine sharpness that aren't possible with a color sensor.

While the camera might seem "restricted" in this sense, there is nothing held back in terms of its technology. The back-illuminated sensor has a maximum sensitivity of ISO 1.6 million, for supreme shooting ability.

And it lacks an anti-aliasing filter to deliver the finest levels of detail – though an AA filter effect can be achieved to suppress moiré using the in-body image stabilization system, which also provides 5.5 stops of shake compensation.

This camera means business like no other – its only rivals are the Leica M11 Monochrom and Phase One IQ4, both of which cost thousands more even without the Cyber Monday sale. So, at this price, the K-3 Mark III Monochrome is an even better bargain than ever!

The rather wonderful Canon EOS RP is currently just £792 – a huge £257.99 saving. Getting a full-frame mirrorless camera for under a grand is an amazing deal – and my advice is to use the cash you save to grab one of Canon's affordable RF primes, which I'll recommend below…

I think the Canon EOS RP (review) might be the coolest member of the EOS R family. It's a few years old now, but it's still one of my favorite bodies to shoot with!

It's the slimmest of Canon's full-frame cameras, making it ideal for stills shooters who want to stay nimble and responsive. And if you're upgrading from an APS-C system, this is a full-frame body that won't feel massive in your hands – not something I can say for many full-frame cameras these days.

The RP's 26.2MP image sensor records beautiful images. Its 5fps burst mode isn't really intended for fast action, but it's useful for capturing the decisive moment in street photography or getting great shots of your kids playing. The autofocus system is nice and accurate, too, with functions like Eye AF to help you nail your shots.

If you're going to shoot a lot of video then this may not be the camera for you; 4K video drops phase detect for contrast-based autofocus, and it also suffers a 1.6x crop. However, as a pure stills camera, I love the RP – and it pairs perfectly with Canon's pocket-sized and wallet-friendly primes.

With the money you save on the body, I would recommend picking up either the RF 50mm f/1.8 that's fantastic for all-purpose photography (and is currently a bargain at just £135) or the super-slim RF 28mm f/2.8 pancake lens, which is great for things like street photography and landscapes (and is just £275 right now).

I've always wanted this absurdly expensive Polaroid but could never justify it. Thanks to this Cyber Monday camera deal, though, now I can actually afford it!

The Polaroid I-2 is the best instant camera I've ever used but it's hilariously overpriced. However, it has been slashed by $200 / £200 if you buy directly from the manufacturer – and if you become a Polaroid Member (which is free) you can save up to $256 / £256!

Why is the Polaroid I-2 (review) so expensive? Because it's the finest instant camera on the market… in fact, I think it's the best instant camera that's ever been made. Yes, that includes the SX-70 and Spectra.

It's been designed for tip-top shooters who need the best quality that Polaroid can deliver. It's the company's first ever fully manual exposure camera, and even features an aperture ring on the lens. And that lens is not only made of glass, it's also the sharpest that Polaroid has ever made.

When it comes to creative potential, the lens has a fast f/8 aperture, a filter thread to mount attachments, and a flash sync port so that you can incorporate strobes and studio lighting. In addition to i-Type and 600 film, the I-2 also accepts SX-70 film – the best quality stock that Polaroid makes, boasting the lowest ASA, finest grain and richest contrast. In short, if you're serious about instant photography, this is the camera for you.

I love shooting with this camera but, at 600 bucks full price, it's too rich for my blood. However, at almost half price for Cyber Monday, all of a sudden I can slap this on my credit card and not feel too bad about it!

I've seen all manner of things discounted since Black Friday, including one of the most perplexing cameras you can buy – and buy it people are, in droves. No doubt even more will be buying it, since it's still among the Cyber Monday camera deals.

The thing is, I can't understand why this compact camera keeps on selling so well. But hey, if you're one of the many people who apparently want one, the Kodak Pixpro FZ45 has been discounted in both the US and UK.

As someone who has purchased my fair share of weird, low-tech cameras, I'm not going to judge anyone who's been scoping out the Kodak Pixpro FZ45 (review).

That said, I feel I should point out that cameras like the Instax Mini LiPlay are only about $40 / £30 more – and that's a much better buy because as well as being a digital camera, it's also an instant camera that uses Instax film, and it's an instant printer as well (turning any picture on your phone into an Instax photo). But hey, you do you.

"The Kodak PixPro FZ45 works well for snapshots, especially in situations like beach holidays and other occasions where you want to travel light, or not risk using an expensive camera," said my colleague Matthew in his review.

"Naturally, the image quality and all-round performance don’t compete with expensive cameras but the Kodak is a bit of fun at a very affordable price."

These are all tremendous stocking fillers, especially at these prices and if you think they might be great for the loved one in your life who loves photography I'd jump at them now.

It's Cyber Monday, a last few hours in which you can grab the remaining good Black Friday deals out there. Some companies have already snatched them away, or they have been sold out, but luckily in the world of great drones for the holidays – and Christmas giving – the big names are keeping their discounts going until the end of today.

Three of those deals represent one of the best choices for kids this season, the Holy Stone HS280. This drone won't produce amazing slick video or photos because the camera is attached to the body, but it does still have a camera. And it also has a good-quality folding airframe which feels a bit more grown-up than the price suggests. The controller, on the other hand, feels nicely robust and – so long as you use it where it isn't too windy – it should serve you well.

If you've got a bit more cash available, and want to give the kids something which they can achieve quality video with, then the Potensic Atom drones have really impressed me this year. They offer two versions – a cheaper one (called Atom SE) with a camera fixed to the body that vibrates and turns with it, and a more expensive alternative with a gimbal (a mechanism that stabilizes the camera for smooth video). Both are great, but the later might be perfect for budding creatives:

Finally I think it's worth mentioning a couple of drones from the market leader in this round-up – their entry-level drone simply because (which it is priced to be a 'main present') it is the most reasonably priced. The other is the Avata FPV which is a different kind of drone flying – a sensible, older kid wears goggles like VR glasses and effectively stands in the cockpit of the drone. This is often a social activity (usually a friend keeps an eye on the sky for safety, and they take turns to fly).

Although it's not got a camera, it is worth mentioning that the indoor drone experience can be had for not much more than a couple of premium beers. Look for bundles like this with three batteries as drones like this last for a very few miniutes and you and the kids will be fighting over those precious seconds of play!

Sadly another drone I usually like to recommend, but is this year getting a bit hard to find, is the Ryze Tello. This isn't a new drone, but because it was made in partnership between market leader DJI (who generally reserve their tech for more expensive drones) and chip-maker Intel (who have more concern than many companies for good software and educational possibilities). If you see it out there, it's a good drone, but I've only seen it for full price this year. There are others to check on our guide to the best drones for kids or best drones for beginners.

A security camera for $20? Seems like a pretty good deal, though if you're completely amazed then you've probably not been looking for the whole of Black Friday, or the Prime Day before that, because Amazon are very good at drawing attention to discounts on Amazon-owned Blink cameras.

And the thing, is they're exciting-looking deals – enough to get you to click buy while you're shopping for something you actually need (who doesn't need to pick up an extra memory card during Cyber Monday?). Here's the classic example:

But my advice to you is to think a bit harder about any security devices you are adding to your home. Systems like Blink and Ring (another Amazon-owned company), and many of their competitors, don't offer their best functionality unless they are able to store their video to the cloud. The Blink Mini comes with only a 30-day trial of this ability, after which it can only really be used to watch live view unless you start paying a few dollars a month.

That kind of money isn't so bad if it is part of a planned expense on a security system, but if it's something you end up paying because you buy a camera just because it looks like a bargain then it feels a bit unreasonable.

My advice? I'd rather pay more at the point of installation on a system which stores the video locally. You can still have all the benefits of an app to review clips and view cameras live (and talk through them, if you choose – though I do that a lot less often than you might expect). One system I reviewed and liked at full price is the EufyCam 3 S330 system which has a base station it records to with AI, and 4K cameras with solar panels (so you don't need to go and charge the battery every month or so). 

That's just my take, and one I've already laid out this weekend. I'd also say, though, that if you do feel like treating yourself to a camera for live view, you might as well get a better percentage deal than the standard Blink Mini and get the Pan-Tilt version which is, well, a bit more fun (you can re-aim the camera remotely).

It's not that these are not capable devices, but my advice is to look at the discounts on real, more powerful security systems and think about how quickly those subscriptions add up and decide whether you want a toy (in which case get the panning one, obviously – it's much more fun) or the real thing.

Personally, my home is currently protected by the Eufy system, so I'm practicing what I preach – so for Black Friday I checked the main deals page and looked at memory cards!

This could just be the best 70-200mm lens ever?! While telephoto zooms are notoriously heavy, this is relatively lightweight and compared to others. It's an incredibly versatile lens suited to landscapes, wildlife, portrait or even event photography. 

Best for street photography

A fast, 50mm prime lens is an absolute must-have for any street photographer but it also works great as a portrait lens too. Best wide-angle zoom

Yes it's big, and yes it's heavy but you cannot beat the image quality of this wide-angle zoom. It's part of Canon's holy trinity of lenses (which also includes the RF 24-70mm and the RF 70-200mm f/2.8) and for good reason - with minimal barrel distortion, image stabilization and low color fringing levels, you won't have to make many edits to your image. 

Best for portraits

This is the go-to lens for portrait photographers who can stretch a little bit extra to get that super fast f/1.2 aperture. We have to admit that even with the Cyber Monday discount this is by no means a cheap purchase and is definitely aimed at pros who earn most of their money from photography rather than enthusiasts but its image quality is second to none.

It's been a weekend full of money-saving deals and we've been working non-stop to bring you the best of them.  With Cyber Monday just around the corner, there are still plenty of opportunities to save yourself a pretty penny on camera equipment!

Best 70-200mm

This could just be the best 70-200mm lens ever?! While telephoto zooms at f/2.8 are notoriusly heavy, this is so light and compact you could spend a whole day shooting without being too uncomfortable. It's an incredibly versatile lens suited to landscapes, wildlife, portrait or even event photography. The one downside to this lens is that it is just so expensive - but with a £700 saving right now, it makes it that little bit more affordable. 

Best for street photography

A fast, 50mm prime lens is an absolute must-have for any street photographer but it also works great as a portrait lens too. For lots of people, a 50mm lens will be the first lens with an f/1.8 aperture they own - or at least it was for me and it absolutely transformed my photography. Finally, I was able to take shots with silky smooth blurred backgrounds, sharp in-focus areas and beautiful round bokeh. 

Most versatile

If you're one of those photographers who like to dabble in lots of different genres of photography, this could be the perfect lens for you. At the wide end, you could just about use it for portraits (although it may look a little odd) but would be great for focussed landscape shots too. At the wide end, it's better suited to bird and wildlife photography or aviation photography (basically anything that's really far away). Not only can you take advantage of Canon's double cashback, you can get an extra £160 off too!

Best wide-angle zoom

Yes it's big, and yes it's heavy but you cannot beat the image quality of this wide-angle zoom. It's part of Canon's holy trinity of lenses (which also includes the RF 24-70mm and the RF 70-200mm f/2.8) and for good reason - with minimal barrel distortion, image stabilization and low color fringing levels, you won't have to make many edits to your image. 

Best standard zoom

The Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L is the true standard mid-range zoom. The Canon RF 28-70mm f/2 variant might appeal to those trying to break away from the mold but this focal range will always be one of my favourites. Even though I shoot with Canon, I've had a go with this lens and it's incredibly fast, delivers stunning images and if I owned it, it'd probably never leave my camera. 

Of all the Cyber Monday camera deals we have seen so far, some of the most impressive have been the ones from Panasonic. 

The Lumix range of mirrorless cameras splits into two different camps. There is the Micro Four Thirds G range, that employs Micro Four Thirds lenses. Then there is the full-frame S range that uses L-mount lenses. And we have seen great discounts on both sets of cameras – these are some of our favorites that are on offer right now…

I don't know about you, but by this point in the discount weekend, I've already bought most of the things I was looking out for. I made my list of black friday drone accessories and snapped them up because I didn't want to wait in case the deals ran out.

Now I'm left thinking about the things I don't need but could definitely stand some improvement. I know my Sony A7 III would love to be paired with a better lens, but another camera I use every day is the terrible webcam in my MacBook Pro. Since, like so many jobs, my work involves fewer glamorous visits and more online meetings than I'd like it makes sense to up my game in this area and invest in a better webcam.

Personally, I like a camera like an Obsbot Tiny 2 or a Insta360 Link which can keep the lens on me automatically. These devices are good enough to be used not only in conference calls but also for streaming and live broadcasting using a platform like OBS.

The newer Obsbot Tiny 2, which is an excellent camera in this category, isn't obviously discounted, but there is a $50 coupon to be claimed. It is also 4K, it has a 1/1.5-inch sensor and performed very well in my tests.

There is a cheaper route to tasting Obsbot's quality though, especially if you're mostly thinking of meetings and not broadcasting – the more generous discount available on the older model, the Obsbot Tiny 4K. Even that model had gesture controls, a 4K version, HDR and nice software – I remember from my review.

There might be other choices in the best webcams list for you, but if you're looking for the best 4K webcam for streaming these feel like a couple of great choices at a worthwhile discount. 

I was asked by a family member for my advice on the best beginner mirrorless camera deals for a budget of $800, and I surprised myself with the answer. 

I chose the Nikon Z30, the Canon EOS R100, and the Sony a6400. Each ranked highly in our reviews and each is capable of capturing beautiful images. They are also very well priced and easy for beginners to use. 

There are many great Cyber Monday camera deals, but it can all get a little confusing, especially for beginner photographers who are not aware of the differences.

We have seen some amazing Cyber Monday camera deals this weekend and even though Cyber Monday is technically over there are still some amazing savings. This is the best time of the year to stock up on small things like batteries and memory cards but if you've been putting off buying a particular lens for a while you could find it has a tasty discount that'll sway you to get it. 

I shoot with a Sony A7 III (which coincidentally was bought on a Black Friday) and even though I am pretty happy with my lens set up I'm always on the lookout for an unmissable bargain. I actually only have two lenses - a Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN and a Sony 50mm f/1.8 (as seen below) and they do me for most of my work as a portrait and events photographer but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to own more!

I've scoured the internet to find the best lenses with the biggest discounts suited for everything from street photography to portraiture and everything in between. While some are specifically made for Sony's APS-C bodies such as the A6600, most of these lenses will work on both full-frame and cropped sensor bodies.

Best APS-C lens

If you're after versatility in a lens, look no further. In 35mm terms, the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS has an equivalent focal range of 27-158mm so if you're after a one-lens-fits-(almost) all jobs this could be your answer. Internal zoom means it won't ever get any bigger - what you see is exactly what you get and it really is a fantastic APS-C lens. 

Best wide angle prime

While zoom lenses add versatility, prime lenses on the whole deliver sharper, cleaner images and this Sony FE14mm f.1.8 GM is one of the best we've used. It's suprisingly compact and lightweight making it great for taking out on hikes (after all the best landscapes are usually a walk away), it's autofocus is lightning fast and has minimal barrel distortion - even with the Black Friday discount it's a big investment but worth every cent. 

Best standard prime

This is the first lens I bought for my Sony A7 III and until I saved up enough pennies to buy a zoom, it was my only lens. I've used it to shoot everything from family portraits to festivals, landscapes and street shots. Considering how cheap it is (especially at the moment) it focuses fast, it feels well made and it's never let me down so if you don't already own won, why on earth not?!

Best for wildlife photography

A big zoom lens is a must if you want to shoot birds and wildlife as they enable you to keep back from the action but still get some incredible shots. Tamron has released some impressive lenses in the last few years but this has got to be one of our favorites. It gives APS-C shooters a huge range at a very very reasonable price.

Best wide-angle zoom

At the other end of the scale you have wide-angle zooms which are perfect for architectural photography, landscapes, interiors or even wildlife if you want to get a lot of the background in shot. This is one of the biggest discounts we've seen on any Sony lens so if you're lens line-up is lacking on the wide again snap this up soon. 

Best standard zoom

A 24-70mm lens for me is a must - I use a very similar focal range for almost all my work but sadly they don't come cheap. If you don't need a wide f/2.8 aperture this is a great alternative, it's smaller, lighter and considerably less expensive, especially with the Black Friday discount. 

One of the great things about Black Friday and Cyber Monday is the number of special offers on smart home security cameras, but drill down and there are a couple of concerns about those deals. 

Firstly if you're buying from the world's largest online retailer, Amazon, then there is just a hint of unfair bias since Amazon own two of the biggest brands in the market, Blink and Ring. These companies both produce good quality products with their own distinct slant (though it won't surprise you to learn that both prioritise Alexa compatibility in their feature lists!)

Secondly, like so much else, smart home cameras come with two costs – the cost of acquisition and the running cost; most (but not all) require a subscription service to get the best of the feature set available including, crucially, recording incursions onto your property.

With these two considerations in mind, I found myself thinking, what security cameras would I look to pick up this Black Friday to keep my own home safe and – ideally – to avoid setting myself a long-running financial trap. Personally I'd rather spend a bit more on day one than keep spending a monthly fee.

The pay-once route

Just the other day, a neighbor of mine visited and asked me if he could see a recording from my smart camera because his car, parked a few doors down, had been stolen. I had to apologise and explain that, unless someone came onto my property, the camera didn't actually record the incident.

This is normal with smart home systems, which are activated by nearby motion, record for a few seconds, and then go quiet for a spell to save power (even if something is happening). With a 'proper' system with a base station, like the EufyCam S330 below, you can choose to record as much as you want and the cameras are 4K because it's your own data network – your wi-fi – rather than a paid-for subscription happening on the cheap.

Eufy also offer a number of other elements which can work with this system or alone, like their eufy Security Floodlight Cam with 360-degree pan and tit camera.

The pay-or-not option

As mentioned, the Amazon-owned services come out in force over the Black Friday / Cyber Monday period with bundle deals, and one of the most cost-effective is a Blink Outdoor bundle.

These cameras are designed to work their best with a subscription, which for unlimited cameras is $10 a month, but you can buy an additional device called a Blink Wireless Sync Module which lets you record locally instead. It doesn't have all the smarts, and is seemingly deliberately less elegant (there are no animated icons in the app), but it is interesting to have a buy-out clause from the subscription!

Every year Black Friday comes along and sometimes I feel almost guilty for not snapping up a big piece of gear like a discounted drone but, as it happens, I'm happy with the gear I have. What I need to get the best of it are a few peripherals which can make all the difference. So, for this Black Friday, these are the deals I'm snapping up.

For what it's worth, it's also the way I think most of us can do the best out of the day – until last Friday, when the deals really started, prices on things like memory cards and SSD drives haven't been too good. Now there are some bargains out there and they might be gone by the end of the day – almost certainly by the end of 'Cyber Monday.'

So, without further ado, here are my list of four essentials that I plan to own by the end of the day:

A fast memory card

Over the years I've learned it's probably best to have a few memory cards ready in my bag. They seem to last forever but they can stop working and it'd be a shame to be grounded for lack of a few dollars. Similarly the old eggs v basket argument suggests it's better to stick to 512 or 256GB and get a few than a massive 1TB card.

External SSD

Like many folk, I'd like to edit video on a laptop that doesn't have as generous a storage capacity as perhaps I need (yes, it's a MacBook, so there's no changing it now!). They best solution is definitely an external drive and by my math the most cost-efficient option this Black Friday (on the day itself anyway) is the SanDisk 2TB.

Landing mat

Every drone pilot should have one, especially now drones are so short from the ground.

Filters

Sadly you don't get ND filters with all the Fly More deals any more, but on the plus side you can track down discounted deals this time of year which effectively offer you two savings against the own-brand alternative.

The holidays are coming, and if you're looking for a drone on Cyber Monday the chances are you're looking for a good gift. If you're looking for a genuinely good drone, with a capable camera, the drone I would usually point to would be the DJI Mini 2 SE, which produces some of the best video possible from a drone in the price bracket thanks to the stabilized camera. It uses a 3-axis gimbal which is smart enough to keep the camera steady as the drone wobbles, unlike most of the cheaper competition. It also comes from the reliable market leader. No competition, right?

This year, there are two alternative choices from a company which used to concentrate slightly more on toy drones: Potensic. They have produced a folding drone called the Potensic Atom – which also boasts a 3-axis gimbal and a 4K camera – and a cheaper Atom SE, which relies on electronics to stabilize the image. The later compromises image stability, but also offers a lower price of entry, something DJI doesn't do. Given that – with Cyber Monday discounts – we're looking at a the Atom SE starting at under $200 it feels like plenty would benefit if DJI would be a little more competitive, especially as – when I tested in, admittedly, low wind, the video wasn't too bad.

At the same time, the better DJI deals aren't as great as you'd hope. Probably because the margins on the Mini 2 SE are pretty tight, and because it's still a great drone that sells itself, but the discount is only $40 – admittedly an OK 12% if you buy the drone only, but that is only 8% if you're buying the bundle.

The Mini 2 SE is a great drone, but you only get 2.7K video, not 4K. Also if you start to add up the goodies – extra batteries, bag, charger – the Potensic Atom (not so much the Atome SE) offers a good bit more for not a lot more spend, at least during Potensic's more impressive Black Friday deals.

There is one other thing to think about though – DJI have their own offer on the Mini 3, which is better than both drones in terms of camera, and offers a choice of controllers and bundles. The Mini 3 even has a camera you can rotate to portrate mode for social media fanatics!

All of the drones I've mentioned are below 250g because that makes them suitable for use in more places, with fewer legal restrictions (ideal this time of year). Although it's not a cheap option, if you're feeling flush it's worth mentioning that the best drone in this space still comes from DJI. It is the Mini 4 Pro and it is a lesson in what happens if you don't get a Cyber Monday discount; it is a minimum of $759 with one battery and the standard remote control.

What is Black Friday?

The modern meaning of Black Friday began in the US during the 1970s, denoting the Friday after Thanksgiving, which marks the beginning of the busy Christmas shopping season. More retailers started to use Black Friday to launch sales, with some dramatic discounts available to savvy shoppers. In the last 10 years or so, Black Friday has spread beyond the US to become a near-global phenomenon.

Even with other promotions and sales during the year, such as Amazon Prime Day, the weeks leading into Black Friday are always a great time to find the best bargains.

When is Black Friday 2024?

This year, the official Black Friday weekend takes place from Friday 29 November through to Monday 2 December 2024 (Cyber Monday), and that's when we expect to see the bulk of the best camera deals. However, there will be some great offers available before and after this weekend – which we will be monitoring from now through to the New Year.

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is a later invention that brings attention to exclusively online deals.

Binocular FAQs

What do the numbers, such as 8x42 and 12x50, mean on binoculars?

Binoculars have lots of different specs, but two key ones are best to focus on if you want to keep things simple. These are magnification and lens size.

Most binoculars will list both in their name. When you're browsing for binoculars, you'll quickly notice that their names tend to include something like "10x20" or "6x30". These two numbers refer respectively to the magnification factor and the size of the lenses. So in this example, we've got binoculars with 10x magnification and 6x magnification. You might think it'd be a matter of picking the binoculars with the largest magnification, but in practicality, it limits your field of view, which can make things harder to spot or follow. With higher magnifications, you are more likely to need a tripod or built-in image stabilization.

The second number refers to the objective lens size. A larger lens will make the image brighter and clearer, especially in low light, but will also make the binoculars bigger and heavier (and probably more expensive). This means that for your hobby or subject, it's worth thinking about what the best combination of magnification of objective lens size will work for you.

To work out how bright a pair of binoculars is - and its suitability for use in lowlight – you need to divide the second number by the first - this gives you what is the "exit pupil size". For a pair of 10x20 binoculars, the exit pupil is 2 – and for a pair of 6x30 binos it is 5. Look for an exit pupil of five or greater if you want to use them on dull days, or at dusk.

I've seen lot of amazing deals on monitors, and the sheer choice of deals can be overwhelming. But I've drilled down and assembled a selection which I think represents the best value at a range of price points, from sub $150 budget monitors, through mid-range bargains, right up to premium color-critical displays.

I've prioritized image quality throughout, and selected IPS-based LCD screens, as these have enhanced color and contrast consistency versus other LCD types - a must for accurate image or video editing. Some deals may seem temptingly cheap, but on closer inspection, they're not all that great and so I've not included them: screens with lower-than-average resolutions being typical examples, as these would result in a blocky, pixelated image, and are a false economy when superior, higher-res displays cost only marginally more. For a photographer, like myself, image quality is everything.
