The Panasonic Lumix L10 was only unveiled last month, but the new Micro Four Thirds compact camera has already fought its way onto bestseller lists. The list of the trendiest compact cameras at US retailer B&H for May 2026 is topped by the longstanding viral Kodak Charmera, but it’s followed by the new Lumix L10 and the special edition Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III.

The launch of the Lumix L10 came as a surprise to many, but the compact camera’s arrival was met with mixed reactions. The L10 uses a Micro Four Thirds sensor, smaller than that of popular compacts like the Fujifilm X100VI and the Ricoh GR IV. But, the L10 is a bit larger than both of those fixed lens cameras.

I think there’s a good reason for the L10’s size – and I think that it’s the same reason the L10 has already “zoomed” to the top of the bestseller list. The L10 has a zoom lens equivalent to a 24-70mm lens on a full-frame camera.

That’s a key distinction, as most large sensor compacts like the X100VI and Ricoh GR IV use a prime or fixed focal length lens. The L10 isn’t completely alone with its zoom – the Leica D-Lux 8 also notably has a similar lens – but along with the zoom, it slides in at a competitive price.

A number of the best-selling compact cameras, even among smaller sensor budget options, have zoom. I think the reason point-and-shoots with zoom are doing so well is that zoom is something that most smartphone cameras struggle with. Along with the versatility that a zoom brings, longer focal lengths tend to be more flattering for portraits too.

I suspect the US isn’t the only region that will see the L10 at the top of best seller lists, as Panasonic Japan has already announced that supply is limited due to a high number of pre-orders.

The Charmera is a digital camera that doesn’t even breach 2MP, but its small size, cute retro designs, and US$35 price have turned the camera into a viral hit. Naturally, more people can afford the Charmera than the A7 V, but the Charmera doesn’t look like a short-term viral success.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III has far more in common with the Sony A7 V – although Canon’s new mirrorless has the open gate video specs that Sony’s new camera lacks. Reviewer James Artaius called the R6 Mark III “the new yardstick by which other hybrids will be measured,” thanks to its 40 fps 32.5MP stills and 7K 30p open gate amid features like an excellent stabilization system and autofocus system.

Fujifilm X100VI

The Fujifilm X100VI has been selling out since it launched two years ago, so it’s a regular attender to these top seller lists – or at least it is when the popular retro compact camera is in stock. The popular camera had enough stock to jump back up to the top ten, but, alas, it’s back to being listed as “temporarily out of stock” at B&H again.

Canon PowerShot G7X Mark III

The Canon PowerShot G7X Mark III is technically on B&H’s March 2026 top ten three times – the compact camera is on the list in silver, black, and a third time with an accessory kit. Like the X100VI, this is a hard camera to find in stock after influencers discovered the larger one-inch sensor and 4.2x zoom lens. But Canon has been ramping up production, so perhaps the camera’s appearance in the trending list speaks to the brand starting to catch up with demand.

Ricoh GR IV

The return of the popular GR series was highly anticipated, and the Ricoh GR IV continues to sell well. It’s one of the biggest updates to come to the series, though the new sensor and processor don’t stray too far from the GR III’s tech specs, the small size and large sensor continue to be highly sought after.

Ricoh GR IV Monochrome

Just behind the GR IV is its sibling that’s arguably a one-trick pony: the Ricoh GR IV Monochrome, which can’t shoot images in color. I just had to return my rental of the GR IV Monochrome, and I was really surprised at the difference the lack of a color filter makes in reducing noise.

Canon R5 Mark II

The Canon R5 Mark II sits on the list of trending cameras as a reminder that it’s not just the cheap viral cameras like the Charmera that are selling well. The R5 Mark II Essentials Kit is the priciest option on the best seller list, but it’s a longstanding favorite for good reason. The camera’s 45MP sensor, mixed with a 30fps electronic shutter and 12 fps mechanical shutter, make it a top-selling pro model.

US retailer B&H has recently shared the list of the top trending cameras for February 2026, a list that’s led by the $35 Kodak Charmera, the viral Fujifilm X100VI, and the new Sony A7 V.

The Kodak Charmera was an instant viral hit when it launched last year, remaining out of stock for months. B&H now lists the $35 camera as in stock. The Charmera has a number of things going for it, despite the minuscule 1.6MP resolution, including a retro style and a blind box style that likely aren’t hurting the tiny camera’s fame.

The Charmera is still fairly fresh, so it will be interesting to see if the tiny camera still has as much staying power as the next camera on the list, the Fujifilm X100VI.

Fujifilm X100VI

The Fujifilm X100VI has been hard to find ever since it launched in February 2024. Two years later, the retro-styled compact camera with a 40MP APS-C sensor is still topping bestseller lists. The compact camera was briefly listed as in stock at B&H last month – which could be one of the reasons the compact camera is so high on the list. But, as of today, the camera is back to being backordered, with an April 1 availability listed on the silver model.

Sony A7 V

The Sony A7 V has been topping bestseller lists in the US as well as Japan since its launch late in 2025, so it’s no surprise to see the mirrorless still selling well. The Sony A7 V is one of the brand’s more affordable full-frame mirrorless options, boasting a 33MP partially stacked sensor and AI subject recognition, though critics were quick to point out its lack of Open Gate video.

Ricoh GR IV Monochrome

The Ricoh GR IV Monochrome has only just started shipping in limited numbers, so it’s unsurprising to see the black-and-white-only camera hit the bestseller list, as the color version has also ranked well shortly after its launch. The Monochrome is priced higher than the original GR IV, though. It’s still rolling out in limited shipments and not in stock, but available to reserve a spot from B&H.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III

Canon’s new R6 Mark III launched in November 2025, just ahead of the Sony A7 V. The two cameras sit at a similar price point, so it’s interesting to watch where the models fall on various best-seller lists. The Canon EOS R6 Mark II has the Open Gate video that the A7 V does not – and at 7K 30p no less – as well as a 32.5MP resolution for stills at up to 40 fps.

The Sony A6700 is a 2023 launch, so it’s interesting to see the camera pop back up on the trending list. As a crop sensor body, it’s a more affordable option for Sony’s E-Mount, and the bundle includes a kit lens, memory card, and bag, which is essentially everything beginners need to get started.

Canon’s new mirrorless isn’t the brand’s only option on the list of best-sellers. The Canon EOS R5 Mark II has reappeared on the list, thanks in part perhaps to a $500 discount (which is still available). The R5 Mark II offers a higher resolution than the R6 Mark III with its 45MP stacked sensor. It still manages a 30 fps top burst speed even at that high resolution, making it a versatile body.

Canon PowerShot ELPH 360 HS A

Canon’s affordable point-and-shoot makes an appearance on the list as well – though last month’s list had the 740 rather than the 360 model. The PowerShot 360 HS A offers an average-sized sensor for a point-and-shoot at 1/2.3-inch, but mixes that with a 12x optical zoom and $379 price point.

Kodak PixPro WPZ2

Kodak bookends the list with one at the top and one at the bottom of the top ten (although both are made from third-party brands licensing the Kodak name). The Kodak PixPro WPZ2 is a waterproof compact camera with a 16Mp resolution and a 4x optical zoom.

When the Joby GorillaPod arrived on scene, it redefined the idea of a tripod with its twisty legs that could grip any number of objects and surfaces. I’ve used some of Joby’s flexible tripods to take steady shots without hauling a giant tripod around, but I’ve never seen prices quite this low as a handful of the popular Joby flexible tripods drop to prices starting at about $10.

Joby is arguably most known for its GorillaPod and its sibling, the PodZilla. These unusual tripods take the short-legged tabletop tripod and turn the legs into flexible tubes that can wrap around objects. I’ve used Gorillapods in the past, and they’re quite handy for stabilizing smaller cameras without the bulk of a traditional tripod. With a 33MP partially-stacked sensor, AI detection autofocus, and 30 fps blackout-free shooting, Sony describes the A7 V as “a Goldilocks camera that’s not afraid to punch above its weight class.”

While some were quick to point out the A7 V’s 4K when competitors offer 7K Open Gate, if B&H sales data – and data from Japan – is any indication, Sony fans are undeterred.

Ricoh GR IV

The Ricoh GR IV was a highly anticipated 2025 launch, so I’m not surprised to find the compact camera with an APS-C sensor among the most popular options last year. The fourth reiteration in the series continues to pack high-end image quality in a pocketable camera with an updated sensor and lens, although video features and burst speeds remain limited.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II

A trio of high-end Canons sits snuggled together on the top ten list. The priciest of the three sits the closest to the top: The Canon EOS R5 Mark II. The R5 Mark II isn’t slowed down by its 45MP sensor, still delivering 30 fps burst speeds and even 8K60p raw video.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III

The pair of R6’s on the list speak to the series’ staying power. Announced in November of 2025, like the Sony A7 V, the Canon R6 Mark III wasn’t on sale for much of 2025. But, the camera still garnered enough attention to outsell its predecessor. The Mark III upgrades to a 32.5MP sensor as well as 7K Open Gate.

The R6 Mark II, meanwhile, still had 10 months of the year as a current model – that, and a lower price point compared to the new Mark III likely helped boost the mirrorless camera’s numbers.

The Nikon Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR certainly isn’t an impulse buy – but the price is still far more palatable than the likes of Nikon’s 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S, the Nikon Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S, and in an entirely different price category the brand’s high-end telephoto primes.

Despite sitting at less than comparable zooms, this lens packs in a rather versatile 180-600mm reach, ousting more popular zoom ranges like the 100-400mm.

An exceptionally affordable f/1.2 prime: Canon RF 45mm f/1.2 STM

I find the Canon RF 45mm f/1.2 STM one of the biggest surprises on the list – because it has only been available for a few weeks, yet it’s already sold enough to rank among the top lenses of the entire year. This 45mm was only announced in November 2025 and just began shipping earlier this month – and it seems it’s popular enough that Canon is having a hard time keeping up with demand.

The reason behind the lens’s popularity? It’s a bright f/1.2, yet it sells for $469 / £479.99 / AU$699.95.

An all-in-one zoom for under US$1K: Nikon Z 24-120mm f/4 S

The Nikon Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S is actually on the list twice – once in a bundle with a UV filter and once on its own. That’s impressive for a lens introduced in October 2021.

But, there’s a lot that a lens with a 24-120mm zoom range can do, and, unlike many all-in-one zooms, the aperture doesn’t narrow down at the telephoto end with an f/4 throughout.

A wide to super-telephoto all-in-one: Nikon Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR

The Nikon Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR is even more versatile than the 24-120mm, offering a wide and super telephoto all packed into a single lens. While the aperture drops down to f/8 at the long end, the zoom range is versatile, and the image quality is quite good for a lens that packs in such a wide range.

An ultra-wide without an ultra price: Sony FE 16mm f/1.8 G

A new take on a classic: The Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II

Another new lens introduced in 2025, the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 II updates a classic workhorse. The second-generation lens is a bit lighter, but delivers fast autofocus and fantastic sharpness. Reviewer Matthew Richards gave the lens five stars for that mix of build and image quality, calling it a “pretty spectacular upgrade.”

A bright pro zoom with an unusually compact design: Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II

I’m not entirely surprised that the one Fujifilm lens to make the top lenses overall is the XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II. This lens is quite small for an f/2.8 zoom, but despite that is built for the high-resolution 40MP cameras in Fujifilm’s lineup. That earned this lens a spot on the best Fujifilm lenses.

Watching retailer trends offers insight into which cameras are the most popular – but which models were the trendiest deals during Black Friday and Cyber Monday? US retailer B&H recently shared a list of the trendiest cameras during the pre-holiday sales, and top hits range from compact cameras like the Sony RX100 VII to pro mirrorless like the Nikon Z8.

These are the trendiest cameras from the past week (that still have live discounts), according to B&H:

That’s a rather eclectic mix that ranges from compact cameras to pro mirrorless.

Sony RX100 VII

First, let’s start with the only compact camera on the list: The Sony RX100 VII. I find this one a little surprising. Compact cameras are trendy, but the RX100 VII is a six-year-old camera. But, what’s boosting the RX100VII back in trends is the 24-200mm zoom lens and one-inch sensor.

If you want a camera that does more than a smartphone, I recommend getting something with either a larger sensor or a big zoom. The Sony RX100 VII is a rare combo in that it does both, even offering a bit more zoom than the so-trendy-its-always-out-of-stock Canon PowerShot G7X Mark III. The mix of the larger sensor, long zoom range, and pocketable size means the isn’t an impulse buy, but it’s still $100 off at B&H. (In the UK, London Camera Exchange still has a coupon code for the compact camera bringing the price down 5% to £996.55).

Sony A7 IV and A7R V

The new Sony A7 V launched right after Cyber Monday, and both the A7 IV and A7R V were among the trendiest camera deals over the past week. The Sony A7 IV deal will likely stick around as Sony plans to keep the older model as a budget option. A discount that’s still live on the Sony A7R V narrows the price gap between the high-resolution model and the new Sony A7 V.

Canon EOS R5 Mark II and R6 Mark II

Canon similarly has two mirrorless models that garnered a lot of attention over the holiday sales: The Canon EOS R5 Mark II and R6 Mark II. The R5 Mark III is a 45MP stacked sensor high-end model, and a $500 price drop in the US makes the camera a bit more affordable.

The Canon R6 Mark II, on the other hand, was recently replaced by the R6 III, but discounts brought the 24.2MP full-frame camera body down to under $2,000 in the US.

The US wasn’t the only region to discount those two Canon mirrorless – in the UK, the Canon EOS R6 Mark II is still £200 off with £400 cashback, and the R5 Mark II is £200 off with £500 cashback.

Nikon Z8 and Z5 II

Like Canon and Sony, Nikon also had two mirrorless models trending in the holiday sales: The Nikon Z8 and the Z5 II. Those two models cover both the high-end pro to entry-level full-frame. The Nikon Z8’s 45.7MP stacked sensor and 20 fps bursts when shooting RAW make it an attractive option for shooting high-resolution action.

The Z5 II sits on the other end of the spectrum as Nikon’s most affordable current-model full-frame mirrorless. The 24.5MP boasts some impressive low-light capabilities considering the price. Both the $250 discount on the Z5 II and the $800 price drop on the Z8 are still live in the US. (In the UK, the Nikon Z8 is at its lowest ever price at Park Cameras with more than £1,000 off, while the Z5 II is also still on sale.)

When I travel, camera gear quickly starts to take up the most space in my luggage – but when it comes to travel cameras, one of the first options that comes to my mind is the Panasonic Lumix S9.

The Panasonic Lumix S9 is geared towards content creators, but it’s also Panasonic’s smallest full-frame mirrorless camera, making it travel-friendly as well.

The Panasonic Lumix S9 isn’t the camera for everyone – the trade-off for its small size is that there’s no viewfinder, no grip, and no autofocus joystick. That’s likely a deal-breaker for serious photographers accustomed to such luxuries – it’s geared more towards content creators and beginners. But, the S9 is a natural transition into mirrorless photography from smartphones, thanks to its small size and touchscreen.

The trendiest vlogging cameras right now range from high-end mirrorless cameras to action cameras, according to one retailer. US photo-video store B&H has shared a list of the seven trendiest vlogging cameras right now, and it’s an eclectic mix.

While the list is a good mix between brands and categories, Sony’s ZV series has two different models on the trends list. The Sony ZV-E10 II is a 26MP APS-C mirrorless camera with 4K60p, and it fixes much of the complaints surrounding the predecessor. The ZV-E10 II houses the same sensor that’s inside cameras like the Sony FX30 and a6700 and shoots 4K30p with no crop and 4K60p with a slight 1.1x crop.

Sony ZV-E1

The Sony ZV-E1 is a similarly video-oriented compact mirrorless, but packs in a larger full-frame sensor with 4K60p (and a larger price to match). The real stand-out feature though, is the subject tracking, which both aids in autofocus but also can help kep the selected subject centered on a cropped frame.

Fujifilm X-S20

The Fujifilm X-S20 may seem a bit more of a surprise on the list – it’s a fantastic hybrid camera, but it’s also a 2023 launch that now has more competition among Fujifilm’s lineup. The vlogger focused Fujifilm X-M5 isn’t as much of stills hybrid without the viewfinder, though (and is young enough to be still hard to find in stock). The X-S20 captures 6K30p open-gate video with subject-tracking autofocus, so its feature set still feels highly modern despite the classic retro look.

Nikon Z6 III

The Nikon Z6 III is a “dream camera for content creators,” according to DCW reviewer Matthew Richards – and I have to agree. The Z6 III feels unusual in that it’s right at home for vlogging, but also tucks in plenty of features for enthusiast photographers and even pros. That’s thanks to tools like a stacked full-frame sensor, 6K60p video, and excellent autofocus.

DJI Osmo Action 4

Tiny cameras may come in handy for content creators, and the list includes a handful of action cameras, including the DJI Osmo Action 4. This action camera has already been replaced by the Osmo Action 5, but has stuck around as a budget choice – and not a bad one at that. The camera is excellent in low light, well-waterproofed, and has excellent stabilization.

GoPro Hero12 Black

Similarly, the GoPro Hero12 Black on the list is an older model, but a $150 discount on the creator bundle likely helped push the camera onto the trending list. The bundle that made the trends list pairs the action camera with the excellent Volta battery grip as well as the media mod. Considering the Hero13 is a fairly minor update with tweaks like GPS, HLG HDR, and improvements to addon lenses, the discount on the older Hero12 is tempting – and still offers 5.3K video.

Insta360 X5

360 cameras allow content creators to reframe the footage later – a major advantage for content creators who self-record and move around the scene. The Insta360 X5 is one of the best 360 cameras out there, thanks to impressive low-light performance and up to 8K of 360 video. Content creators can also use voice and gesture controls, another perk when you’re both the subject of the video and the videographer.

So far, 2025 has been a year of innovation, nostalgia, and technical evolution in the mirrorless world. B&H Photo's top ten mirrorless cameras of 2025 list reflects a market where flagship features trickle down, hybrid functionality thrives, and practical design plays a big role.

I have a sign hanging in my home that reads something like this: Weird is a side effect of awesome. But I was standing several hundred miles away from that sign amid the latest imaging tech at the B&H Bild expo in New York City when I realized just how much the quote from Rebekah Crane applies to the photography world. Because if I had to pick just one word to represent all of the biggest trends in cameras right now, it would be something synonymous with weird.

From oddly-shaped gimbal cameras to digital shooters intentionally throttled for a more film-like feel, the expo floor was filled with unusual cameras alongside the latest tech innovations. As I wandered the show floor getting to touch and try the latest cameras, I realized the innovative and weird often go hand-in-hand.

While the show was also filled with beastly, advanced cameras with innovative tech like the Sony a9 III global shutter, the high resolution hybrid Panasonic S1R II and the luxurious Leica SL3, these are the weirdly wonderful cameras that I spotted during the 2025 B&H Bild Expo – and the trends that they’re emerging from.

Cameras for digital detoxing

Putting down a high-end mirrorless camera for a compact camera feels a bit like unplugging. But some cameras take this further than others, falling just shy of actually going back to film. The Fujifilm X Half feels like a camera meant for digital detoxing. With its half-frame sensor and lack of features like RAW and burst mode, there are more capable cameras. But the X Half isn’t about the latest tech but rather finding the retro feel without losing the convenience of digital.

I’ve been devouring any information I could get on the X Half since its launch, but when I finally had it in front of me, the first thing I realized was that it’s quite a bit smaller than I expected. The X Half carries some of the style of Fujifilm’s retro mirrorless cameras, but it’s so small, it's nearly whimsical. What really caught my attention, however, is the secondary screen for swiping through film modes and the film-like dials and special effects.

Minimalist, luxury cameras

One camera that arguably didn’t look like any other camera at Bild is the Sigma Bf. Boxy and simplistic, the Bf is the minimalist luxury camera. The silver body and simple controls are eye-catching.

A comfortable grip sits too far up my must-have list for me to consider a camera like the Sigma Bf. But, after holding it in my hands, I can see the draw of working with a camera that not only looks striking but keeps the controls simple. Perhaps my favorite part, however, is the available silver lenses to match.

Gimbal-clad cameras

Perhaps the most oddly shaped, trendy camera right now is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. The Pocket 3 isn’t the typical rectangular shape with a grip and perhaps a viewfinder bump. No, the Pocket 3 is really a gimbal with an action camera built into the top and a screen built into the handle.

While the Pocket 3 may look strange, what it does is mix the simplicity of an action camera with stabilization and tracking. But perhaps the more important distinction between the Pocket 3 and most action cameras is that the Pocket 3 has autofocus and a larger one-inch sensor, which opens up more potential for background blur compared to action cameras that are made to generally keep nearly everything in focus.

Compact cameras – and tiny mirrorless kits

Compact cameras aren’t just a 2025 trend – the pocketable camera format has been making a resurgence for a while now. Compact cameras feel more like unplugging than using a smartphone camera, and many offer larger sensors and better lenses to boot. The trendiest compact cameras were all present on the Bild expo floor – the Fujifilm X100VI, the Ricoh GR III, the Leica D-LUX 8, and the Canon PowerShot V1, to name a few.

But alongside the trendy compact cameras, a compact size seems to be trending among mirrorless cameras, too. The newly announced Fujifilm X-E5 that I tested felt both high-end and compact, and I immediately fell in love with the film simulation dial. The OM System OM-5 Mark II feels impressively small and durable for a more affordable mirrorless camera. And why can’t more cameras have a variety of colorways like the compact Panasonic Lumix S9?

New cameras that look old

The retro look has made a comeback right alongside compact cameras – and there was certainly no shortage of vintage-inspired cameras. I shot the Nikon Zf at the Nikon booth, alongside its smaller but less luxurious-feeling Nikon Zfc. I felt nostalgic, gripping the OM System OM-3. And the new Fujifilm X-E5 and X Half fall under the retro look too.

But Bild also had its fair share of actually old retro cameras, from the historic cameras in display cases to the film cameras slung around the necks of guests and even renowned photographers like Louis Mendes and Mark Mann.

Underscoring its importance as an event, a number of high-profile camera products and accessories are being launched at Bild Expo.

While most on this list are to be expected, like the Fujifilm X100IV, I was very surprised to see the Nikon Z8 so far down the list, and the Son ZV-E10 so far up the list - but it goes to show that what you might think is popular, really isn't to the whole photography community. 

One entry that I am not surprised about is the Nikon Zf, that has been a camera that the Nikon community has wanted for a while and I have heard nothing but great things about it.

Another surprise is the fact that a compact camera is within the top ten, yes it's at number ten on this list, but it goes to show that there is clearly still a market for these cameras that conveniently fit in your pocket and can be taken anywhere!

Apple's M3 range of laptops might have only just come out, but if like me you were already salivating at the thought of one of Apple's latest, then your luck is in as B&H has up to $250 off select models in Apple's lineup!

When I tested Apple's M2-powered laptops I declared that they were the best photo-editing laptops, and while I am yet to put the M3 laptops through their paces, on my first impressions using the new laptops, the bar appears to be raised even further!
