To coincide with Pride month, Polaroid has launched a special edition camera and film inspired by iconic artist Keith Haring: the Polaroid Now Keith Haring Edition and Color i-Type Film Keith Haring Edition

Keith Haring was an American pop artist who emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the Eighties. He rose to fame throughout the decade, becoming best known for his colorfully cartoonish hand-drawn figures.

An openly gay man, Haring was also a strong advocate for safe sex and AIDS awareness; messages that often played a part in his work. And since his death in 1990, his charity the Keith Haring Foundation has continued his work supporting AIDS research, charities and education.

It's appropriate then, that in for this year's Pride, Polaroid is celebrating this gay icon and his legacy by releasing a specially-made Polaroid camera. A collaboration with the Keith Haring Foundation, the new camera is a callback to how the artist himself often documented work by taking Polaroids.

The camera itself is patterned in Haring's unique style, but the tribute doesn't stop there; when you take photos using the accompanying i-Type film, your Polaroids are illustrated with matching design motifs.

With an autofocus two-lens system, built-in double exposure, self-timer, flash and rechargeable battery, the camera is an evolution of the original Polaroid OneStep cameras from the Seventies.

In the company's own words, "The Now takes that simplicity and adds greater creative control, clean design, and vibrant color to make it more than a moment maker – but a life accessory."

The Polaroid Now i‑Type Instant Camera Keith Haring Edition costs $119.99 / £129.99, while a pack of Color i‑Type Film pack is $17.99 / £16.99. Alternatively, you can get the Polaroid Now Keith Haring Edition Starter Set, which includes both, for $169.99 / £177.99. You can find all the details at the Polaroid website.
