AMY, can you sticky the poll thread please . Again thanks for all your help in getting us going, it looks like we have everything we need for the comp now, except a free T shirt each week for the winner

Hi Bob,

I'm sure that can be arranged for the first few winners if they're interested - we'll run out eventually ;-)

Good to see the images entered - I've voted for my favourite :-)

Jinky, it's honestly dead simple.

Open two browser windows, one with your flickr 'all sizes' page and one here with the quick reply box open. In the flickr page copy the URL from box 2 of your medium sized image (or whatever clickable size you want to appear in the thread), click on the insert picture icon (as Bob said) and replace the text in the box with the URL to your medium sized picture. Ctrl+V should do that.

The in the reply box you get your image url surrounded by the {img} {/img} in square brackets.

Now go to your flickr page and chose the original sized image and copy the URL in box 2. This will be the image that is displayed when the smaller image is 'clicked'.

In the PR reply window highlight all of the {img} {/img} text, including the beginning and end brackets and then click the link icon (chain and globe). Ctrl+v into the pop up box.

{URL="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2540/4086880860_d7c7508081.jpg"}{IMG}http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2540/4086880860_d7c7508081.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

. .and the code will be inserted for you, as above. I've changed the brackets so you can see the end result.

Just voted Bob, that seems to work just fine.

Well done for getting it all going again.

Cheers H and Carol. I did manage it in the end using the formula highlighted earlier. Photos in the voting table just appear as standard size so should have just done an ordinary one. Thanks anyway - I`ll use the same method next week when I should have time for a more serious entry.

Great job Bob / Amy getting a poll possible. Quite a resposne for first week back! All works too - but there must be a way to do a link from the PR gallery to here so that you can put it in to the thread with a click available to go large.
Amy - your how to in FAQ just does not give me the option you state when I right click the magnifying tool. It would be a shame if entries were just clicked over here from flcikr all the time. I`d prefer to put comp entries on PR and link to that gallery.

Some nice shots - hard to choose

Hi jinky,

Sorry to hear the magnifying glass trick doesn't work for you - what browser are you using? This works for me in Firefox and IE but not sure about Safari/Mac users?

Be great if you could let me know and we can get one of the Mac users here to try it out for me and amend the FAQ as necessary.

Many thanks,

Amy

Many thanks Bob for persevering. Great individual effort in reviving the comp.

On the subject of posting a "clickable" version I went for the option of linking to the photo's "home page" in flickr (the page showing tags and with a comment box) rather than the jpg itself, so people could easily leave comments if they wished. I used to do something similar back on dcmag. This seems to have been lost when it was transcribed to the poll thread but nevermind, it's a teething issue that will get sorted in the next few weeks.

Now off to vote...

Hi Amy. I am using IE8. When I right click on the magnifier I get a list with the nearest to yours being being "copy shortcut" but it does not work as stated when I try to post that and I don`t get a "copy link location" on the list of possibles.

Hi Jinky,

Just trying out the method in IE now - I right clicked on the magnifying glass, clicked "Copy Shortcut" then came back here, clicked on the image Icon and pasted in the link.

Let's see if it worked...

Yep it did, I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Can you maybe try again and see what happens?

You should get a link that looks like this: http://www.photoradar.com/files/imag...w-comp-up.jpg?

For your picture (that's a link to your scone picture by the way).
